Shorty Forty Five Values

I have 2 Shorty Forty Five's.

One with the original box & papers, that is NIB.

The second has no box or papers, but is unfired and in new condition.

Having a tough time coming up with a value for sale.

Any input?

There is one on GB you could watch that. Of course that may or may not be a good comparison,but at least you will see what one goes for.

I'll go with CALREB. Understand GB is the highest price you could hope to get due to the large exposure to potential buyers along with the auction environment that drives competitive bids. Face to face would be still a good price but realistically somewhat less. You would be hard pressed to get those 2 or 3 deep pocket buyers locally driving the price. I paid $600 for a LNIB 3913NL a little while back thinking it was full price but have since seen the same thing go for $850. I'm glad those two buyers weren't bidding on the one I bought. If you're shooting for the big price go on GB and you might get lucky. If you're willing to take 20-30% less to avoid the pitfalls and inconvenience of GB then go local. You should get a good price here from those who appreciate the Shorty 45.

I've seen Shorty 40's go from about $700 to $1100 and Shorty 9's go from about $800 to $1500. The 45 IMHO will potentially bring a bit more than those. These numbers are off the top of my head and shouldn't be considered anything but me thinking out loud. I certainly don't see everything nor am I an expert.

The market being what it is who really knows?

I definitely have an appreciation of the Shorty series. They are a step above the great regular factory offerings.

Although not very recent, (2019 for the first one,) I’ve found that all of them can be acquired for reasonable prices. They can also achieve “crazy” prices.

My Shorty 40 was > $500.00, the 9 was > $900.00 but the 45 MII was over $1,500. The 9 and 45 came with everything but the 40 came with nothing. All are in excellent + condition. In my opinion the Shorty 45’s will always be worth more.

Gunbroker is not the best place to get the “true” value but it’s a start. I actually got my 40 and 9 through Gunbroker and couldn’t be happier.

If you’re just asking the value for value sake it’s obviously going to be, (intrinsically,) higher than if you’re trying to figure out an asking price and actually selling them. I’d just guess $800.00- $1,000 for the one, $1,000 to $1,400 ish for the other.

I’m very biased though so maybe my estimates are too high.
