Default s&w 669

I'm looking at a 669 thats for sale, it's missing the right side ambi safety lever. Is there a cap or plug that can be put in it's place. Is it ok to leave the way it is. Pistol operates fine besides the missing lever. Any advice?

Depending on how much, if any, money you want to spend Numrich seems to have some left side lever safeties available. Unfortunately, they don't have any of the levers that go on the right side of the ambidextrous safeties. My guess is that the screwing falling out and cause the right side lever to depart for places unknown was common so right side levers were a popular item.

On the Bay of E's there are several screws, but no levers.

I'd look on some of the other auction sites as well.

I bought one a while back with the same problem . The screw I bought on the bay , the lever I got from Numrich . If they don't have them post it in the wanted section here .

I'm not sure , but looking at my 469 they look the same . Maybe the 6900 series ? I don't have one , but maybe someone will chime in .

The 3rd Gen guns use a different system to lock the right side levers in place, so they are not compatible.

In the past, some people have mentioned that a 3rd Gen safety will work in a 2nd Gen. The problem being that you'd have to buy the entire assembly.

I got a replacement from Numrich for my 645. They seem to come in often and go rapidly. I have locktite on my screw now. And remember to check it often at the range. Smith sent me a left side only safety as a replacement and it also seemed to run fine without the right side safety or screw in place.
I was happier when Brownells got replacements in. I bought a couple extra

Thanks for all the info, the 669 looks in great shape other than the missing right side lever. But at the firm price of 395, I,m going to pass and wait for another to come my way. Thanks this forum great.

I never really think of the X45 guns for some reason. They seem to be stuck in limbo between the 2nd and 3rd Gen guns in my mind.

Considering the cost of and possible difficulty of sourcing the correct screw and off-side lever, $395 firm sounds like a pandemic/panic price, betting on there being someone who desperately wants a compact high capacity 9mm pistol.
