So a seller local to me has a Model 41 for sale. The serial number is in the 77,xxx range, and it's been drilled and tapped and has a pic rail attached. Overall the gun is in good shape other than the drill/tap ( I'd say 85-90% finish wise ) . So the questions I have are rough value and age. Any info you guys can give me would be amazing.

There are plenty that can guess it's age better than me, but with a 5-digit SN, it should be pre-1970.

Rough value is simply that it cannot do anything to get beyond "shooter grade" as it is an altered gun and the alterations cannot be un-done.

With that said, it still isn't easy to judge the market price. There are tons and tons of 41's out there and even altered, this is a better pistol than the modern ones made after about the year 2000.

I think it's a safe buy at $800-$900, maybe depends on whatever comes with it. Just how I see it, maybe others won't agree.

The serial number is late 1966 to early 1967. The drilled barrel hurts the value as does your estimate of 85-90% condition. What barrel is on the pistol? What else is included in the deal? Extra magazines , original box, tool kit, & paperwork will add to the value. We really need several good photos to give you an value estimate.

My two 41’s are about the same condition as you describe, a little worn but excellent shooters. I got both of them for $750 each.

It's a 5.5 inch barrel, and I think he's overpriced. Wants $900...plus the tax and transfer would put it around $1025.

Better than ones made after 2000? Really? Why? Seems there has been a few old ones breaking these days. Perhaps the Pre-2000 ones aren’t all that.

Any item is only worth what you, or someone else is prepared to pay at that time which is usually governed by supply and demand.
I paid US$990.00 for a 1984 model, as shown, which is probably a bit high by U.S. standards but here in NZ was one of only two available in the whole country, and more importantly, I specifically wanted a Model 41.
You will always come across someone who seems to have obtained a better deal.
Ask yourself, “How much do I want this particular pistol, and what are your options?”

The price may seem a bit high, but that does bot mean that he cannot sell it for that in the current nutty market. It all comes down to what is it worth to you. He might well sell that for $900 here.

It’s a very lucky day when you can buy a Model 41 for less than $900. If you planned on drilling and tapping the gun anyway you’re saving money.

Last year I picked up my only 41 from Simpsons Ltd in Galesville, IL (on line). They have treated me very fair in a couple of guns I found on their webpage that I gave new homes. I see they have several 41s listed today so you may desire to look thru their selection as to condition, age, etc to obtains an idea of the asking price today for 41s. A lot of their guns are imported from across the pond, so my 41 has their import stamp at the bottom of the frame. I obtained a shooter that had many, many rounds down range. I am pleased as I wanted one to carry to the range when I had desires to throw 22LR down range at the steel targets

So I decided to pass on that one. I really wanted a long barreled version, and the drill and tap put me off. So I kept looking and found one that fits the bill for me. Pics when it comes in! Thank you guys for all the help !
