I know that some folks bag on IMFDB for making mistakes here and there but overall, I think their body of work is pretty impressive. But earlier I had looked up the 90’s action movie “The Professional” with Jean Reno and I found that they made a 3rd Gen variant that never existed.

L'eon: The Professional - Internet Movie Firearms Database - Guns in Movies, TV and Video Games
They also say that a S&W 41 appears in the movie and I haven’t seen the movie in ages but the pictures they use to detail this supposed 41 aren’t enough to get me on board. They also show a magazine and say it is for the 41 and, well, it surely isn’t.

Anyway, you guys want a S&W 3917? :D

No, not what I’m saying.

The movie prop department makes up all kinds of stuff, that’s a given. But some contributor to IMFDB decided that instead of simply saying that the prop department mixed some parts to put together a handgun... he’s saying that Smith & Wesson built a Model 3917.

I think it’s pretty funny! :D

I wouldn’t be surprised if smith built that. For my L.E dept. S&W built a scandium 4006 for us to test. I never passed as it fell apart

Well I learned something. The actor who played Benny was a real life NYC firefighter who died on 9/11 in the collapse of the South Tower.

RIP Keith A. Glascoe

I kinda think it is but I genuinely don’t know.

But I find it to be a useful reference even knowing fully that it isn’t perfect. It’s easier than trying to pause a movie or show and back it up and examine scenes. They tend to show decent still frames on the site.

Yeah, I'll always use the site when I want to look up a gun.

I think that was the argument that the IMFDB editor made, but I’m not sure how he can look at a 90’s movie still frame and determine that is stainless and not alloy.
