4046 And M&P 40 Online
I have way too much free time. Looking on the big auction site I found the above guns for sale. There are several of both listed for extremely good prices. At least some of the ads include one gun and parts or a full second gun. They are all listed as is.
Anyone have any experience with these guns or seller? The guns are former Brinks guns. I have a CHP 40 and have been thinking of buying a 4046 or the M&P. Brinks did take care of their guns except for routine cleaning. They were sent back to the headquarters when something was broke. I suppose larger Brinks branches might have not bothered sending them off for repair.

I had a 4046tsw at one time. If you already have a 4006 you have an idea what to expect.
It's a heavy gun. It soaks up the recoil of the .40S&W cartridge well. They are built stout.
You have that DA shot for every pull though. I didn't mind that but some people don't like it.
I think it depends on your DA shooting skills. If you've spent some quality time shooting revolvers DA, that will translate when shooting this gun. If you haven't, you may find this gun a challenge.

Apples and oranges comparison. Polymer striker fired, DAO hammer fired with steel frame and slide. 4046 is a boat anchor and not in production anymore, the M&P is. Mags are getting pricey for the 40XX series guns.
I've bought two 4046s for under $300, I'd buy another at that price if I could. I have no interest in the M&P series.
Hope this helps

TO CLARIFY, you are looking for input on the packages of "As Is Guns", most Partially Disassembled as sold by the particular seller, not a specific gun comparison. I too would be interested - he lists several at a time and they seem to bring decent prices. He had a bunch a couple of weeks back, so there should be someone out there with experience. Maybe see if he has feedback on any yet? Best, Ed

There must be a dozen 4046/5906 Parts guns currently listed - are you really bidding on them all? Last time they went much higher than I would have expected for non-op "Gunsmith Specials"

**most** I have ALOT of 40xxTSW specific spare parts so I’m not worried about that, might as well buy them for cheap if all else fails I have more spare parts. Plus since flight school is getting expensive so I took a job at brinks... I wonder if they would authorize me to carry a 3rd Gen insed of the 509 which I can’t say I care as much for. Already have both a 5946/4046 that are brinks specific anyhow but oh well. If they aren’t as bad as they seem and are repairable for the prices that TSW pistols have claimed to I may be able to make a little off them. Either way I would be happy with them if I win.

As a former long term Brinks employee and trainer, The answer would be no. There is zero flexibility. They nowadays won’t even allow you to sign out your FN to practice. Shotguns are long gone too.

Well good thing I already have a 509 then... used to work for Gardaworld, they had a lot wrong on other fronts but at least they let you carry whatever you wanted. Carried a CHP 4006TSW with a TLR-1HL or my USP 40 Lem with a jet funnel.

I had a friend who was a retired Ohio State Trooper. He applied for a job at my branch. I offered him a position. He turned it down when he found that he could not carry his OSP issued Sig. Instead he took a job with Garda in Dallas.
