I keep hearing great things about CCI Mini mags, but I have a real hard time holding less than 5 inch group with them at 25 yards with my 22A. I get much better groups with SK pistol match, but these have about 15% fail to eject rate.
Has anyone else had problems with mini mags? Or maybe I just can't shoot....

Hi James..
I would try different brands. It can make a big difference. Mini Mags work great in my Browning Buckmark and my Ruger 77/22.
Some other brands like Remington are not quite as good in my guns. But.. they may work great in your gun.
Best
Bob

Yeah, I need to do that, I was just wondering if anyone else had observed the same thing with Mini Mags in the 22A. It gets great groups with SK pistol match, but that stuff is a bit spendy.

You'll usually find the standard velocity stuff is the most accurate, but offen doesn't have enough "umph" to cycle the gun. Sometimes you can get it to work good with a lighter or shorter recoil spring. The general rule is the faster .22s' tend to spread out more, and the Mini-Mags are pretty fast. But all guns are going to have a favorite ammo and it does take a little trial-and-error to find the best load.

Mini-mags grouped very well in my 22A, remingtons and federal both sucked in my gun.

Shot it again yesterday with better results. Conditions weren't ideal, but they weren't too bad either. I found that cheapo Winchester dynapoint actually shoots halfway decently in it. I'd guess I'm still only hitting the 1 inch bullseye at 25 yards 2 out of 10 shots, though.
To be fair, it hasn't been cleaned in about 200 rounds; I imagine it's fouled up pretty bad.
