3913. Guzzitaco, Tercgen, and Squidsix
I bought this plain jane 3913 with box and papers from a retired Fairfax, VA, deputy many years ago. I have several thousand rounds through it, and it has been a dear friend for years.
Enter Tercgen: I hit him up and asked for arched-back single stack compact grips for this gun, as well as a Recon 45 that many of you have told me I destroyed by removing the comped barrel.
He made awesome grips, and I stippled them to meet my absurd requirements.
Enter Guzzitaco: he bought a milling machine to enhance his already exceptional skills as metalworking, and I sent him the slide to do some magic on. He cut PC relief into the slide, but at my request no front serrations. He opened the rear sight a little and made it a U-notch.
I installed a single-side safety from a 3914LS, and a tritium front for a M&P9 (needed significant filing to fit)
The mag bases are from the 3913TSW, or the flush fitting “ccw” base that came with some 3913 mags back in the day.
This one has a 17 pound main spring, a mirror polished trigger bow, and some other polishing inside.
I am thrilled, to say the least. The only thing left is deckock-only, which I am trying to find someone to do. Its awesome!

More
Some more pics.
This was already my primary carry piece, and that will of course continue.

3913 and Recon
Here with its big brother, the Recon45. Both wear Tercgen grips and tritium front sights, as well as my usual mods. (Mag disconnect removed, center rail polished, 17 pound springs, dehorned safeties. I made some flush-fitting six-round magazines for the Recon) Quite the pair!

Super very nice carry pieces. (And actually works of art too.)
I wasn’t saying you “destroyed” your Recon. I was happy because that’s another, (and another plus one,) that I know aren’t original anymore and that’s good for me. I love to hate mine and if I didn’t have a Shorty it would be a good thing to cut the Recon’s barrel.

Re: the decock only conversion.
It's a 1/16" hole drilled in the forward end of a 3/16" long, 1/8" wide slot in the left side safety body recess.
I've done it a few times on a HF drill press.
It would be easy on Guzzi's milling machine.

Its the sourcing of another spring-loaded decocker that vexes me. I did the conversion on another 3913, and it works beautifully. I suppose I could pull the safety from that one, cut the slide on this one, and swap it over. I would prefer to have an additional spring loaded decocker though. I have three s&w pistols and two Berettas that are decock-only, and I would love to have this one added to the pile.

You're welcome!
Now all you need to source is the 45 right side safety lever.

Guzzitaco is an artist . If you didn't see it , look up what he did to my 457 . I also have a 45Recon , but I've never been tempted to take off the compensator , it b adds to the look . But the sights do leave something to be desired .

I spent a lot of time corresponding with Guzzitaco just as he was setting up his machines. We were able help each other with some parts swaps. He was doing unbelievable work by hand at that time, so now that he’s had time to get the mill all set up and practice with it, his capabilities have advanced to an even higher level. I’m proud to be able to say “I knew him when.”

The PC relief cuts that Guzzi did are striking....may have to appropriate your idea on my 3913NL ccw

Those are some handsome looking Model 3913's. I would go so far as to call them distinguished.

[QUOTE=guzzitaco
(any questions please let me know)
[/QUOTE]
Well I certainly have a question. When are you going to get a “vintage” 41, (or new one I suppose,) to do your magic on ?
I’ll send you a stock barrel to experiment with. I think this could be a very interesting and hopefully somewhat lucrative endeavor for you. S&W 41’s are sorta popular.
As I’ve told you I really think that S&W got the idea of the slide relief from Bob. I know he submitted his idea to them well before the PC was established but I am convinced they remembered and copied his vision.
I didn’t drift this original post because the discussion was about the real PC modifications that “guzzitaco” is duplicating so exactly and perfectly.

I think the slide looks absolutely phenomenal and if I had to the tools (I don’t and I should never) and if I had the skills (mine are INVERSE of what we see here, this is why I should never have the tools) then there’s no telling how many of my S&W pistols would get this treatment.
If my approval sounds in any way emphatic, please triple it.
The curb appeal is rocketing off the scale. Just awesome.

sorry for the late reply...looking forward to experiment on the 41 barrel... I don't think my work will ever be at the level of Mr. Loveless...but I will try...
PS: I need to get me a 41...
