Is the mag follower the only thing the makes the slide stop/catch raise up and lock the slide back on the last round fired? If the catch fails to lock the slide back is it the mags fault? I ask because I bought a bunch of used mags and now my 4506 does not always want to lock back and it has always functioned 100%. I have not actually fired the gun with these used mags, just hand cycled when I noticed the slide catch not engaging 100%.

Yes if you're getting the slide back far enough and the empty mag isn't pushing the slide stop up, then it is most likely the mag springs.

Just got off the phone with Smith and Wesson and they have the latest follower design for $3.50 each and springs for $5.50 each.
Are these good prices?

That is on par, if you have very many mags Wolff does have something like a 10pk that's cheaper. But if you end up getting followers also and ship from two sources you eat up any savings.

Are Wolf springs as reliable as the factory springs would be?

Wolff 10% extra power magazine springs at www.gunsprings.com. Get a 10 pak and don't look back.

Ok I cleaned and oiled the mags but still my 4506's slide stop does not want to raise up with some of the mags......must be weak. So I ordered some +10% Wolff springs. Hopefully these will fix the problem and feed reliable still.
I acctualy have 2 4506's. One the slide stop pops up no matter what mag I use. The other does not pop up with all mags. Any other ideas?

Dirt or bent slide stop pin. Try swapping the slide stops.
