4006TSW magazine not seating with 11
I just recently got one of the CHP 4006 TSW pistols.
I am not able (without excessive force which I did not try) to seat the 11 round magazine with all 11 when the slide is closed, round chambered or not. With the slide open, it goes fine. With 10, it goes fine. Same result with some spare magazines I have which look identical but say pro mag on the base plate instead of smith and wesson.
Are they just like this? Gun problem? Magazine problem? Should I try to force it? I'm currently recovering from wrist surgery in my off hand so I admit I'm reloading gingerly, but none of my other pistols act this way.

No they are super tight, try unloading the mag and loading it again, I've always had to slam mine home....
Some mags I have trouble getting the 11th round in..

Makes me think the 5906 magazine design was really only meant to hold 10 rounds of .40 and the 11th was only squeezed in through mag follower trickery.

Could it be a Klinton-era ban mag, not intended for 11?

I don't think so. They clearly have 11 stamped on them with a window. It's not that hard to push 11 into the mag either.

I have several of the 11-rd .40 mags. The newer/more recent ones are harder/stiffer to get that 11th round seated in.
The older ones have loosened up and loading them to a full 11 rds isn't difficult.

Simple, carry it 10+1 :-) Seriously, all of my mags are stiff like that, I just don't add the extra round.

gnappi nailed it. Not sure why you are tempting fate by trying to keep a mag loaded at full capacity. Any pistol/mag combination that I expect to work, over a month or so of storage, is always downloaded by two rounds. Maybe keep a second loaded mag close by in the event the first mag runs dry.

Same thing with my 411. I just keep 10 rounds in the mag and one up the pipe. Also, a Maglula magazine loader helps get stiff mags loaded.

I agree, settle for 10 or 10+1.
I bought a couple of 1911 .45 magazines almost that bad. They will HOLD 8 rounds but there is no slack to let them be seated under a closed slide. OK for a reload at slide lock if you are shooting IDPA.

My goodness, what a fuss. Just load the gun with what it likes
and live with it. If it works with 10, then shoot it.
What a fuss bucket.

Have you taken the magazine apart and made sure the spring is in it's proper alignment? A few years ago I put all new Wolf springs in my 11 rounder mags and didn't have any seating problems. If you are using this for protecting your family it is nice to have the complete 12 rounds. If this is for target shooting I have just started using 10 total when at the range. Good luck.

Thanks all. I'll just run them with 10. Not a huge deal just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.
