Jimbo, you got a sweetie. Plus I think you got three period correct mags. Have fun and a good snag.

Great that you have a really good one! I guess one thing that plagued the first and second gen pistols was the discrepancy in accuracy from one specimen to the next. Some were really accurate, some were really bad, most fell somewhere in between.

Default 39-2 vs Browning Hi-Power accuracy check

A couple years ago I took my 39-2 and my old Browning Hi-Power to the indoor range and set em up against each other at 10 yards which is my maximum for self defense practice. Same ammo, same hold (6 o'clock on the red), same conditions (no wind, light on target), standing, 2 hand hold, semi-rapid fire.

The 39-2 actually out performed the BHP that day with more in red but both were acceptable to me and the trigger on the 39-2 is real sweet.....like squeezing a grape....consistent take-up until boom time.

I don't EDC either, but certainly wouldn't feel outgunned if I did. Only "issue" with the 39-2 is finding (and affording) extra "factory" mags....2 is OK....but I'd like a couple more and the gun doesn't like any of the aftermarkets at all.

Looking forward to winning the Lotto so I can buy a couple more mags for the 39-2.

PS: still love the BHP too!

As a defensive handgun, which is what these pistols are designed to be, I would not feel that I had an inadequate firearm. They do tend to be boringly reliable and accuracy is at least combat accurate, just not NRA Bullseye accurate.

Great that you are happy with your 39. The one that I have is pretty accurate I think. Probably is better now that I have put on fully adjustable sights.

I have two, one blued and the other in nickel. The blued version is extremely reliable, the blinged edition not so much. Nothing to do with the nickel just typical pistol to pistol variation at that time.
