Thinking of trading in my Shield 1.0 with apex trigger for Shield Plus
I have been debating trading my Shield 1.0 with Apex trigger, and 5 magazines in towards a Shield plus.
I looked that Shield plus and the Ruger Max 9, and I thought I would like the Max 9 better, but the Shield felt better in my hand, and I think has a better trigger, even though the Ruger has better sights and an optics mount…
I know I’ve discussed this before, I’m not one to swap to a new gun just because it’s new, I really like my shield, and would have to buy new holster, extra mags etc…
Just curious is there anyone who has done this trade-up yet? Was it worth the effort? Is the Shield plus that much better?
If I do decide to go ahead with the trade-up, I will probably wait till prices drop a little (if they do) .

Two things: Shield+ with 3.1" barrel now comes cut for optic, and the 3.1" has always fit your old Shield 1.0/2.0 holster.
I sold both my 1.0 and 2.0 and put that new + right in the same holster!

Based on the holster fit alone (assuming that's 100% true, I've seen plenty of guns advertised with "holster compatable with ____" that werent) the shield plus is probably what you want. Failing that, I'd look at the P365 or P365XL, easily my favorite of the options.

I’d check gunbroker for a shield+ stripped frame about two weeks ago there were 1-2 sellers listing frames stating they were compatible with 1.0 and 2.0 parts/slides. Not sure if that is true or not! They were listed for $125 each. Would be an easy way to put your current investment to work without taking a hit at the counter of your LGS. You’d need to buy magazines though!

I thought about it but decided to keep my 2.0. My 2.0 works perfect and has never choked. Accuracy is great and I already have 4 magazines. A few extra rounds equates to more weight also.
I’m very happy with my 2.0 and have no intention of changing.

I have a 1.0 to which I have added night sights and an Apex trigger kit. I also have 8 mags for it.I would love a new PLUS but would take such a beating on the 1.0 that I will have to be buried with it!

I opted for the Performance Center version with the longer barrel and fiber optic sights. IMO it's a huge improvement over the original Shield. Carried in an IWB holster this has been my daily carry pistol all summer. If you opt for a Shield Plus you won't regret it.

Yeah I’m kind of in the same boat- maybe I’ll get better sights for my 1.0 and a flat trigger and call it a day.

If other brands are in consideration, you really should look at the Sig P365XL or P365X.
The minute I shot one, my Shield was on its way out the door.

I have both a Shield 1.0 with Apex trigger and a Shield +. I truly cannot tell the difference between the triggers when shooting. The plus feels a little better in my hand with the slightly wider grip and the extra mag capacity is nice but not worth the price difference. I have also owned a 365 but gave it to my son. I shoot the Shield better so it’s my go-to compact. I have put a red dot on the 1.0 for a range toy while the plus is my carry gun. Even with the Apex trigger, I have less money tied up in the 1.0 than the plus. One more item, I can buy mags for the 1.0, none available for the plus.

I changed the P365 grip module out to the XL, now perfect for me.
