Dogmann, your excitement about this is understandable but not well-founded, as I learned several weeks ago when I started a very similar thread after seeing these pistols on GB and thinking I had stumbled onto something extraordinary.
These had been offered before, with the same breathless description and, from what I am told, a price that left our knowledgeable members here breathless as well -- with, shall we say, "unexcitement."
The seller felt these were worth about three times what the guys here seemed to consider a fair price for what they are. Nice pistols, yes, but not at what was being asked for them. I note that they've been reduced now, so I guess the price is more like "twice" what might be a fair price.
I would post the link to my thread, but "once bitten, twice shy" so I choose not to invite the gentle correcting of those more knowledgeable than I am about these 9mm's by bringing up the whole mess again.
Luckily for me, I am not a 9mm guy, so I didn't bid on one to only find later that I'd overpaid.....
They are pretty though: I will give 'em that!

WAAAAAAAYYYY overpriced.
Plus, I think there is a rule about linking to active auctions even if they aren't yours.

I was under the impression that RCMP destroys pistols rather than allow them to be surplused off.
If you do some research into this seller you would think he supplies every law enforcement and military entity in existence.
He has a real flair for marketing though.

Been seeing them for weeks. Maybe half what they're asking!

Yep, not the real deal. They engrave firearms & try to say they are police/military overruns or part of some overseas contract that required the engraving.

These have been listed on GB for some time, maybe about a year now. I think the seller is shady as well, and agree that these pistols are way overpriced, even if legit.
And @Dogmann - Gary S. is correct, linking a live auction here is against the rules. Good idea to edit that link out of your original post ASAP.

I can tell you unequivocally that these are not RCMP pistols. Genuine issued guns are not engraved in that manner, they have a bobbed hammer as they are DAO, and do not have the manual safety. Not that everyone else's info isn't accurate, but I've carried an RCMP issued 5946 for many years-hopefully no one paid any extra for these frauds!!!

Thanks for weighing in.
Sellers like that guy make it more difficult for everyone to navigate the gun market.
The RCMP never sells off guns does it?

For that price it should have been owned by Elvis or Abraham Lincoln or Chewbacca

So why doesn't your agency send a cease and desist to them for the trademark infringement? The RCMP has traditionally been very protective of that and goes after unlicensed usage.

I assumed, when I saw these ads a while ago, that these really were RCMP pistols. This thread has convinced me otherwise, and a careful re-read of the ads reveals the vendor never really states that THOSE pistols are former RCMP guns. Clever devils.
And a true RCMP gun would have some value to a collector, and would be worth a little bit more than a plain gun, but not this much! Although that is another issue.
All the more reason for "caveat emptor." Gun Broker should pay attention, though, because the whole used gun business via the internet depends on accurate descriptions.

Correct-the RCMP has not sold surplus firearms for years. As I understand it-it's due to a UN Arms Proliferation treaty of sorts preventing any Gov't guns from being sold on any market. As I'm new here, I'll look around to try and figure out how to post a picture of a genuine RCMP issue DAO 5946 with the laser imprinted? Logo. Not engraved.

The finish on the slide stop lever, safety, hammer, trigger and extractor don't look quite right - I think they are plane jane surplus guns bead blasted and then engraved.

There's this pic in the wikimedia commons, and more if you do a google image search for 5946 RCMP.

I am very familiar with these pistols, and you are 100% right, for the reasons you have listed above.
