WVPSC 4566TSW
I recently came across a Smith & Wesson dealer that had a listing for former West Virginia Public Service Commission 4566TSW pistols. According to the dealer, the WVPSC purchased 83 pistols on the same contract the WVSP used to purchase their 4566TSWs.
The WVPSC pistols have an integral rail, tritium sights, decocking (only) lever, and Melonite finish. The left side of the slide is marked with "Smith & Wesson, Houlton, ME U.S.A". The right side of the slide has no markings.
I purchased a "new" (never issued) and a lightly used pistol. Both pistols arrived in a serialized S&W box with a spare magazine, the owner's manual, safety lock, and shell casing from when it was test fired. The "new" pistol looks like it was just delivered from the factory. The lightly used pistol was in excellent condition. About the only noticeable wear was to the right side of the grip. I swapped the grip with an extra I had, and you would be hard pressed to find any evidence that this pistol spent any time in a holster.

I only have one picture for now. I'll take and post a few more when I have better light tomorrow.

I bought two: one "new", one previously issued. The selling dealer still has them listed on his website. Firearms (Unrestricted) Archives | West Virginia Law Enforcement Distributors. I am not affiliated with the dealer in any way. I'm just a satisfied customer.

Did you actually talk to someone at the store? I'm surprised they're open on Good Friday. I'd love one but do you have to be a retired LEO?

If you go to the sight, click on the pistol picture, they tell you the requirements, retired LEO, military etc.

I bought a pair of these similar to the OP. These are not restricted to LEO or retired military, they are available to regular folks.

Store was open. They have both Restricted and Unrestricted guns. The 4566TSW are unrestricted.

Thanks for all the information gents. Being in Canada complicates things as we don't have the same laws. If they agreed to a sale I could have it sent to a FFL in Arizona who handles imports into Canada. Then after they perform the transfer of registration of the pistol to me with the RCMP and my provincial firearms office they ship it to me. This could take up to two months before I'd see it. I wish it were simpler.

I'm always happy to help fellow enthusiasts. I hope all who wanted one were able to order one.
When I paid for my order last week, the shop mentioned that they had two used WV State Police 4566TSWs. The salesman mentioned that they showed a bit more wear than the WVPSC TSWs and were priced slightly higher.

I grabbed a used version as well. I am quite excited to get this one. I have a regular 4566 but I always wanted a railed TSW version or a WV state police model. For the price the WVSP command, this is was an excellent option. My is due at my FFL thursday/friday

I'm glad you were able to get one. I hope it's good condition.
If your 4566 needs a new grip, Midway has new OEM straight and curved 45XX grips in stock for <$20.

They still have unissued and used 4566s as of this am. In honor of @18DAI I got one of each. After wanting a WVSP for years I'm very grateful to the OP @nitmr26 for posting this.
I hope some other forum members are able to get some too.
All the best,

Thank you nitmr26 for the heads-up; I was able to get a peak of my used 4566TSW at the FFL today, a new grip and a little cleaning and it will be good as new. I am surprised there are any left, after seeing my pistol in the store, a couple of guys searched for "West Virginia Law Enforcement Distributors" to try and get an order in.
18DAI did give his stamp of approval on these "unmarked" 4566TSW pistols. (see post #25 and #34): 4566TSW WVSP
Here's my pistol, glamor shots will have to wait until I get it home and cleaned up in a few weeks.

I placed my order this morning for a used one. The distributor said he has about 9 used ones, 1 new unissued, and 1 like new (not issued but has minor defect) left for sale. If you want one, better call them ASAP! Can't wait to get mine! All you enablers are killing my gun fund!

Called this afternoon, they still had some used ones and I hope I get one. We will see what happens and what they say. The gentleman I spoke with said they were way behind and I wouldn't hear from them till Monday at the earliest.

They are closed Sat Sun - reopen Mon, so you should be OK unless they have unfilled orders as of closing time Friday - may not get choice though

Okay gentleman now that these guns are hitting the market, the next question is which holster makers are currently making a good product for them, both with and without a light? Enquiring minds would like to know.

Good question, but mine is probably going to become a Safe Queen - theses give new meaning to the word Heavy - or maybe I am just more used to my 5906/5946 and 39xx Pistols

How much heavier are these than the 59xx guns? My early 5906 weighs a ton. I was a lot younger when I carried it and now would want a trailer to tow it around with.

My previously issued WVPSC 4566TSW weighed in at 39.6 oz on my wife's trusty digital kitchen scale.

It may be just my imagination - in theory, I would have thought a 5906TSW is slightly heavier than a 5906, but the TSW variant should be about the same as 4566TSW.

Sounds right - I dug out a couple of old catalogs 1996,1997,1999, & 2003 - here are the numbers per SW Catalogs (all unloaded) (Note there is some minor variation in published weights by year typically less than 0.2 oz)
Probably 4566TSW loaded and 5906TSW loaded close but 5906TSW slightly less weight - probably not that noticeable.
4506 40.5 oz
4566TSW 39.1 oz
5906TSW 38.3 oz
5906 37.5 oz
4006TSW 37.8 oz
4516 36.5 oz
4056TSW 36.5 oz
5903TSW 28.9 oz
457 29.0 oz
4513TSW (8rd) 28.6 oz
4013 27.0 oz
4013TSW 26.8 oz
6906 25.6 oz
3913TSW 25.1 oz
3913 Lady Smith 24.8 oz
3913 24.8 oz
3953TSW 24.7 oz
CS45 23.9 oz
CS40 24.2 oz
CS9 20.8 oz

It must be that beefy equipment rail on the TSW!

It's here! I picked mine up today and it is as advertised, I'd say 95%, just a couple of scratches on the delrin grip. I'm looking forward to taking it to the range. I already have a 4566TSW, regular stainless model with the mustache rail - gonna list that one for sale now that I have this nicer model.
Update - I disassembled and cleaned it last evening. Night sights look to be 50% or so, still useable. It was pretty clean already, didn't need much more than a good wipe down. Internals look good and I think I'm going to leave the grip as is for now.

Received my invoice today for one new unissued and one lightly used. I am very excited to see them when they arrive at my LGS. The new one is probably destined to be a safe queen while the other one is going to get shot, (how much depends on .45 availability and price). Thank you nitmr26 for the post. I've been looking for one of the WVSP guns for years.

After trying to find someone to make me a kydex holster for this gal and coming up empty..I took a crack at it myself.. first one worked.. but I learned a lot.. making a holster to work with a weapon light is much more difficult then one without!! Second time worked much better!!

Picked mine up Tuesday, it's been a busy week. I am more than happy with them. It is difficult to believe that the used one has had any rounds through it. Except for a little wear on the barrel hood, it looks brand new. Also does anyone happen to know when these were shipped? The fired round that came with each one is dated 2013 and I did not think S&W was still making them that recently. Here are some pic's of the "used" one.

Here are the pics of the unissued one. This one may become a safe queen but the other one is going to get shot soon. The night sites even have some life left in them.

The fired round that came with each one is dated 2013 and I did not think S&W was still making them that recently. Here are some pic's of the "used" one.

Yes they were still making 3rd gen pistols in 2013 - in Houlton, Me - special orders, mostly 3914DAO, 3953TSW, 5946 for NYPD, and Police Dept buys in minimum order quantities (saw somewhere they would not accept orders less than 100 units but apparently these were piggy backed on larger order per seller).
And per SW, my 4566TSW out of same source was dated by SW as 3/16/2013

The WVPSC pistols have an integral rail, tritium sights, decocking (only) lever, and Melonite finish. The left side of the slide is marked with "Smith & Wesson, Houlton, ME U.S.A". The right side of the slide has no markings.

Does anyone have documentation of orders - either Police order or WVPSC order - particularly S/N range of 83 pistols - we know 8648 (not 8646), 8697, 8844, and 8853

I do, but your going to have to wait for a giant post on the WVSP and WVPSC pistols coming this weekend. It will have production quantities, but it doesn't really bookend the serial numbers; however with the help of this community we can probably nail it down.

Got my order in today. For those of you looking for a duty holster for this it’s gonna be the safariland 6360-4302-481 that’s a light bearing basket weave with a TLR-1HL.

Would someone mind sending me the telephone number for the store in a PM? Since I'm outside the U.S. I can't view their website. I'd like to see if the have any of the 4566's left. Thanks!

Dammit! I held out as long as I could but ordered a used one today. They have 1 new and 3 used left. You snooze you lose! Add 8688 to the serial number list.

Thank you for their telephone number, I'm not receiving any answer when I call. Does anyone know the operating hours for the store? I've emailed them so hopefully I can pick up a used one.

I believe there were three used left and I've said I'll take one yesterday. The president of WVLED happened to see my email message I sent Friday and kindly replied to me. So there's likely only two left now.
