Question CS45 Production Code Question

In my aborted attempt to sell my CS45, a potential buyer asked if it was a ambidextrous safety, or a single sided one. He wanted an ambidextrous pistol, plus he knew that the last version of the CS45 had Novak type sights.

I told the man if it has the case, you can look up the production code in the SCSW.

I did, and noticed something. The production code is 103014, and that lists an ambidextrous safety, but my pistol has a single sided safety. Also, it says 1999 as the beginning of production, but my special order code is 8344, late December 1998.

Is there another production code for the 3rd version of the CS45 that isn't listed? And is the production code in the SCSW Vol 4 wrong?

These images won’t answer your question but here they are.

Personally I’d rather have the single side one like yours. Maybe it’s the glare but it doesn’t look “black”. (?)

I’m sure the person here that has an avid, (if not consuming,) interest in the CS’s will respond. He has a great collection and notes.

The safety lever on my CS45 is stainless.

This may help add confusion from 1999 and 200 SW Catalogs.
In 1999 103014 was Single side safety
In 2000 103014 was Ambi Side Safety

So does that mean my pistol was a single year production, with the single side safety?

Default Oy vey!

Both my stainless and black CS45s have single-sided levers. I hate that I found this thread because now my obsession with finding one of each CS variant has just expanded.

From a recently closed GB auction.

It appears to have Novak style sights as well, looking at the other picture.

So maybe the factory was just low on levers when ours were made.

IDK. ACEd's post shows 1999 catalog listed with a single side lever, the 2000 lists an ambi one.

And somewhere along the line, they upgraded the rear sights. Mine are the plastic ones.

So maybe we have unicorns!

Not uncommon. I've seen that before on at least one of my pistols.

They start production at the end of the year for next year's new models.

There is a CS45 for sale on another forum. The pictures show a stainless CS45 with an ambi safety that is all black. There is wear on the edges of the "steps" on the safety levers which show what seems to be stainless levers.

No box with the pictures and the serial number is too blurry for me to read.

Oh, he's asking $1,200.00 for the gun and two magazines.

I wonder what kind of dope he's smoking. By those standards mine should be worth $1750 easy.

Does it come with 1500 rounds of ammo?
