Default Reputable S&W Appraisers

Hello all, new to this forum. I just purchased a beautiful S&W M-39 and I believe it's an all-steel frame. I was wondering if there's a reputable appraiser of S&W firearms other than the Blue Book for insurance reasons. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello OP. Pics would help. Put a magnet on the frame. Any accessories with it? Box, paper, mags etc...? One just sold in the 60K Sn. range for mid $2000.

Contact David Carroll, Trussville, AL 35173. I believe his Forum ID is Wordsmith.

H Richard is correct. The best in the business is David Carroll.

Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson 4th edition page 342 says "Steel frame guns fall in the range of 39000 and 60000-64000 and again from 81000 to 82000."

Did yours come with box/papers, and magazines with metal x-shaped followers? We would love to see some pics.

Welcome to the Forum!

The difference in weight is easy to detect. If you have a 39-2 in one hand and this one in the other it should be evident. And of course the magnet test.

"adjective
held in good repute; honorable; respectable; estimable:
a reputable organization.
considered to be good or acceptable usage; standard:
reputable speech." Could be a tall order to fill.
