There were Performance Center versions of the 5906 that had 4", 5" and 6" barrels; some with adjustable sights.

Some time ago a forum member had some long slide top ends - like the one above - for sale. Wish I had bought one. Handgunner356, those look very nice! You're a lucky dude.

Hey OutWest, I was one of the forum members lucky enough to get my 5906 changed from a stock 5906 to a customized, very accurate Pistol Dynamics gun. Here's a picture of the gun now, sorry about the poor quality of the pic. The pistol was worked on by a Forum member by the name of Wesman. If he still does any gunsmithing I would highly recommend him.

There are a couple of nice looking 5906 PC 5" guns on Gunbroker right now.
I am tapped right now but the lower price gun is extremely tempting.

Any idea where any of the barrels are?
I am in desperite need of a barrel longer than the stock 4 inch.
When you changed yours, what all was involved?
thanks

Your problem would be is you would need a extended barrel, the 5" barrel requires a 5" slide.

As mentioned above, one of our members was doing some conversions with barrel/slide sets he had. Managed to trade him out of this M6906 with long slide. Kinda different, appealed (and still appeals) to me...
Not a big fan of the S&W adjustable sights, however. The Novak's do a great job.

Sorry Outwest - it's been a while since I've been on this thread.
The slide and barrel came from a forum member. I bought it back in the end of 2006 when he was selling a few of them here. If I remember correctly - I had to add my own safety, firing pin & spring, and sights to the slide.
I purchased the mag well and extended mag release from S&W. I modded the mag well for standard mags by shortening it (I wanted it to look just like the one on my Tactical 40). The frame needed to be milled to fit the mag well - a local gunsmith did it for me. The night sights came from another member here in the forum.
The project actually took me a couple of years to complete. It took so long more out of not knowing what I was doing than enything else.

There is a 5906 on Gunbroker that is already converted to 5". The seller is Handgunner, who is a member here. I bought an upper from him 6 months ago and installed it on a 5904 lower. It works great, and attracts lots of attention being that it is a SS upper on a black lower.

Auction # 132285508 for anyone wondering.

The PC 5906 DPA Pistols as well as some other limited runs by the Performance Center were available in 5" versions.
I have a DPA 5906 and a Championship Excellence 5906 with 5" barrels.

The gun on Gunbroker looks like the 2nd lovely picture in this thread. If I didn't already have the Super 9 & PPC9 I am playing with & a couple of other models on my WTB list I would snap that one up. It is nicely attired for competition. I can't believe it went through once without somebody picking it up.
