Carry as many as you feel the need to have on hand.

I carry one in case of a malfunction that requires a magazine change, not because I may have to reload.

They must have excluded every recent police shooting in Vegas to get those stats.
I carry a spare mag for a couple of reasons. First, for mag malfunctions, second because of the mob approach to trouble in this city.

I’m very late to this. I don’t carry a spare mag when I carry my Glock 42 or 43, because they’re bulky and I’m not gonna carry a mag pouch unless I mean business. But then I carry a more business appropriate pistol. I will slip a speed strip in my pocket when I carry my 340 PD . . .

I worked with a guy many years ago and asked him the same question. He always said you'll wish you'd have more when they come for you.

Around the house and most errands, 14 in the gun is all. Keep another 13 and a 15 in the console of the truck. If I go in a store I generally stick another mag in my pocket.

no, I just don't ever want to be in a situation where I can't shot back at some cretin with a gun, who has the intent to do me or others harm.
and I just don't see having a pistol and two mags as a BURDEN,
I carry the handgun in an inside the waist band holster, thats very comfortable (I wear suspenders so the weights negligible,) I have the spare mags and a cell phone in an elastic chest holster, that you don't even feel is there when worn
