Slim Grips for CS9 Without TercGen?
Lots of people have posted rave reviews of TercGen's cut down 3913 grips to make skinny CS9 grips and I would buy from him if I could. Unfortunately, TercGen has not posted in about 9 months and his mailbox is full so I can't PM him. Hopefully he is just taking a well-deserved break and will be back with us soon.
In the meantime, I need some skinny grips! Cutting them down is apparently a difficult, fussy job if you want them to look good (I do!). But at least the 3913 grips are readliy avaiable, and cheap enough that you can call your first attempt practice if you have to.
But how do you do it? Can anyone point me to (i) step by step instructions (or a Youtube video!) showing how it is done; and (ii) a list of needed parts in addition to the 3913 grips?
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find.

I came really close two times trying. Everything was perfect until I blew through the grip strap area fitting the insert.
NOS grips are cheap and readily available but I figured why wreck/waste any more since they aren’t an everlasting supply.
I was lucky enough to get my last one from “TercGen” last November. I also hope he’s doing fine.
The good news is that “guzzitaco” is liking this thread !!!! Maybe a few of us could encourage him into perhaps entertaining the idea of doing these type of grip conversions. (?)
In his SPARE time of course.

THanks, guys, really helpful info. 4T5Guy, thanks for outing guzzitaco
Guzzitaco, what say you? It looks like there is an opening for someone to carry the torch of Big Dog and TercGen. Will you heed the call? I can be the Guinea Pig.

Hey there FoundFather, I have a suspicion that we spoke earlier today on Reddit, since I spoke to someone over there about this very same topic. I use a shortened version of my Reddit name here on the S&W forum.
Anyway, I agree with your sentiment in hoping the best for TercGen and also in hoping that we can find another way to make these thin grips. Idk why S&W never offered the CS pistols with delrin grips, but they did them a disservice by not at least making them an option! Here’s hoping you find a viable solution!

Wasn't me! But now I want to find the Reddit discussion! Care to post a link?

I have fake Tercgens on my CS 9, according to him, which is fine, but I am thinking about that wood.

Not sure about the ones from Thailand but KSD’s, (Turkey,) look nice.
A wood grip might be an improvement for some over the factory CS9 offering but they are the same width. As are the ones for the CS40/45.
Going with thinner ones sure changes things a bunch.

"As good asTercGen grips" but are you saying they are as thin as TercGen grips? I don't see how that is possible with wood. If you have both, can you post a side by side picture from the back so we compare thickness?
Also, I can't find the Thai grips on eBay, only the KSD's from Turkey. Can you post or DM a link a link to these? Those are nice looking grips you have.

Here’s a side view for comparison.
“TercGen’s” and KSD’s.

Hi FF,
I did the conversion for my grip on my CS9..****ined one grip...success on the 2nd...
Tercgen is a master on this and found a way to "replicate" perfectly each time...
My bench is full at the moment, but if I get some time I will dig into this and shoot you an email...I have a couple of grey grips around and might give it a try on one of them...

TercGen unfortunatley cannot be found. I think those black grips look great. I have a black CS9. If you ever get around to making gray grips for your stainless CS9, I will be happy to take the black ones off your hands!

Wow that is a very nice looking CS9. Really like the “shaved” controls and the complete “silver” throughout.
I hope no one is offended you did that. I’m thinking about the complaints I/you got for altering a Value Line CS for me. Im surprised you didn’t do your PC like cuts to your own.
Oh, grip looks great to me too.

Tercgen made me a set for the 3913 from an arched back grip for a 3906.
Fits my hand much better than the straight grip does.
Tercgen makes great grips!

I like an arched back strap too. My girl is getting skinny but keeping her curves where it counts. Hot diggity dog! I can’t wait!

I've had this PDF document around for a while, not sure who on this forum generated it, so I can't give credit to the author. It's instructions on modifying Delrin grips for a Chief's Special.

Thanks, BruceB. That looks to be Tom 45's work, he posted and claimed it in post numer 3, above.

BruceB,
Thanks for posting the PDF file.
I don't know how I posted the PDF originally.
When I tried to post it this time it said that the file was too big so I had to convert it to JPG to post it.
Now we have it in two formats.

Thanks to Tom 45 for posting those, and DMcBB for posting the link to the other version. If TercGen doesn't resurface, lots of folks are going to be needing these instructions. Maybe they should make a sticky for them.

Got my TercGen grips from Wyo-man. Just wanted to give him a plug. He shipped even before I sent my check and wouldn't cash check until I confirmed receipt and satisfaction. A real gentleman and credit to the forum. Too bad we don't iTrader or something on here to collect these comments.
Haven't had a chance to install the grips and may not for a while, but they look great.

It is always great to hear stories like this about what high caliber (pun intended) membership we have around here. There is a member feedback forum specifically for sharing this kind of feedback.
Here's the link so you can post your praise there as well!
