I have a used 4006 that my son gave me. He bought it used. What's the trick to finding out the date of manufacture according to serial#.

This is not a CHP gun and has the hole in the hammer which I have read means that it's a forged hammer, not MIM.

There are ways to estimate dates and multiple people will be glad to provide best guess including me, but best option is to ask SW - email during working hours M-F (emails will bounce on weekends) with model and full S/N to [email protected]
