Having difficulty getting my 952 slide lock after the last shot.
I'm starting to approach loads that are getting to the top end. I've tried a much tighter grip and lots of lubrication and last nite only once did the slide lock back.
I'd like to try a lighter recoil spring and wondered if anyone here knows what the weight of the spring as it came from S&W.
Thanks

They were usually shipped with two springs, a 10# and a 12# on 5" models. If you go with Wolff they use the same springs as a 4500 series.

I'm not sure on the 952, but the PPC9 6" uses the 5900(4") springs.

Maybe the problem isn't the ammo. It is the magazine follower which contacts the slide stop and pushes it up to lock the slide. Disassemble, clean and lubricate your magazines. Check to see if the follower is contacting the slide stop and pushing it up. I believe your problem can be solved, you just have to look a little closer at the mechanics. Bruce

Bruce,
Good point. I'll take a look at the mag. The gun has under 250 rds thru it though and I've kept the mags clean. I have been using the same magazine for load development, though and perhaps its faulty. Going to swap it for another one.
Thanks for the good tip.

If your gun is that new it is no doubt still pretty tight. If you do install a lighter spring now you might find that you'll need the heavier one after awhile. Make sure your barrel bushing and barrel are well oiled through their cycle area. Will the slide stop engage when you manually retract the slide on a empty mag? Also check your box for the extra spring, although I believe they usually install the lighter spring and sent the heavier one along in the box.
