Well I just bought a Model 4586 on Gunbroker. The gun is in fine shape with two mags, both of which have black plastic followers.
I have heard that there was a switch to orange followers due to some issue with the black ones. Is this correct? If so, what are the issues and any tips regarding where to obtain the orange ones?

andy, I don't remember the issues but my 4506 was supplied with orange followers when I bought the gun in 1990. The latest followers are black. I'm assuming the same sequence of colors for your 4586, but I sure could be wrong.
Black are the newest in the 8rd. 4500 series guns, and the only replacement. The current tubes that came with the black followers should have square indents in the feedlips. The 645 originally came with medal followers then orange, yellow and then black.
