I'd like to get a 99 in 9mm but want to get the QA version. Am I going to be limited to a Walther?

According to the manual you can download from S&W that model, with the take-down only button was made. That being said, I have not seen many P99's or SW99's in the QA model floating around on the places I search. I am sure they are out there, just don't know where.

Thanks for the info. I had looked at S&W's site but didn't think to go into the manual's section. Now I just have to find one.

There's the SW99 (equivalent to the P99 AS), and the SW990 and SW990L. One of them is DAO with a heavy pull, the other is equivalent to the P99QA, though I can't remember which is which.

SW99 is like the Walther AS (anti-stress), the 990 is like the Walther 990 (DAO, long pull on all shots), and the L is like the Walther QA (DAO, short pull on each shot).
