i am new to this site and have been considering buying these guns.i have standardized my hand guns to 9mm/38spl only.so no interest in other calibers.i also have several s&w's and like them.
i wonder if we could have a large price drop.i have been looking at sales the past 60 days on the auction sites and there hardly any.
the largest site had 350 auctions of m&p had only 2 sales that had more than 1 bid.( 20 had 1 bid but mostly not really a sale ) i only look at nib, never if reserve price.
sw9v had over 750 auctions with less sales as a %.
i would like to hear comments and opinions especially as why this would be and why would dealers keep prices stagnant when sales are so low?

Probably the price and risk. The auctions are sometimes overpriced.
Why go to an auction house like gunbroker when I can go to Buds and get Sigmas for $349 new? and a M&P for $549? I know Buds will ship and won't overate the gun, but some guy on Gunbroker... well, who knows.
That and the 9ve is severely underated and has a bad rep from long ago problems. I expect it to be discontinued as Smith knows more money is to be had on the M&P.
That's ok, more for me.

tks for that answer, makes sense, my expectations are most likely out of line.

i was looking to pay $330 for sigma, delivered to my ffl,i was considering buying more than one tho.
under $500 for mp.
cant find any at those prices, and am now reluctant to bid due to lack of sales, btw i dont know buds, some auctions slightly less, and my local gun stores are more than that ,and except one, are no fun to deal with.

Just google Buds gun shop. Huge gun shop with a thousand on line vistors at one time, probably the biggest volume gun store out there.
Sometimes you can find used 9ve's for under $300 like new delivered. I did just that on a stainless model. It literally had not been shot.
This last weekend picked up another 9ve in melontite for $349 delivered.
That's pretty decent prices and shipping is fast.
I think the days of the $270 sigmas are long gone.

I have visited or called a dozen gun stores in the western Chicago suburbs regularly over the last few months in search of a 9mm for under $500 and the sales/discounts were almost non-existent. Pistols are flying off the shelves at near list and in some cases above list price, so why discount? If I owned the store I would be looking to make every buck I could. As auctions have more hassle and risk than a guy walking into your store with cash or a credit card, I would charge a premium if it was me.

As an IT guy, this feels alot like Y2K, were businesses went on a buying binge in 1999 and then didn't buy anything else for the next 3-5 years. Sooner or later the people fearing future restrictions will stock up as much as they can afford and then there will be a glut and I'm sure we'll see prices come down. It's really a matter of paying more and enjoying now, or holding off for a few months and almost certainly paying less. As for me, even though I remember Sigmas going for $299 last year and S&W offering rebates and free magazines, I went ahead and pick one up for $339 the other day because I decided the extra months of enjoyment between now and a probable further price drop down the road was worth 30-50 bucks to me.

Default Sigma

Hello all, I am a new member and fairly familiar with my SW9V and SW9VE. Both weapons have fired several clips in direct progression and have never jammed, failed nor caused any misfire issues. I find it truly odd that so many here would have nothing but major firing issues with theirs. Weird. I guess I am truly lucky.
BTW, what is the difference between a SW9V and an SW9VE. When I took the concealed weapon course the two policemen giving the course told me that the SW9V was the gun that was in the Glock lawsuit and the SW9VE was the replacement for that gun. I have never read anything in that regards. I would appreciate any info you could provide.
Thanks for the forum.
Jim
