Hello,
I am new to this forum and new S&W owner. I recently purchased a M&P compact 9mm for a Concealed carry. I am astounded by its crafstmanship and is a quality gun all around!
So that being said I have a few questions. One being is where online is the place to find mags and 9mm ammo?
The gun has a rail to mount a light to, would it be practical to mount one on a CCW? If so what kind?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Mike..
I'm not an M&P owner but would look to S&W for the magazines, maybe others can help you find them at a better price. Here's the Link to S&W
S&W M&P 9mm Compact Magazine
For 9mm Target ammo I'd look to your local walmart for the Winchester 100 round Value Packs
Ammo is in high demand lately & people are hoarding it, Makes finding it a bit tough..
Good Luck!!

usually the m&p comes with an offer for 2 free mags for it but if your looking for more i would look on cheaperthandirt.com or midwayusa.com either one will have pretty good prices but i would recommend looking for a used one theyare alot cheaper. i had the same delema with my sigma series 9mm the mags new for it are around 50 bucks and i found 2 used ones at my local gun shop for 25 each and as far as attaching anything to it i wouldnt reccomend it on a conceal cary gun it just adds another item that can get snagged up in the holster or on your clothes if you spend alot of time out at night just cary a flashlight with you that can fit in your hand and that is really bright 100 lumens or better is reccomended and you can find alot of different ways to use a gun and flashlight together weither in the surfire grip or the fbi modified grip (i watch alot of the outdoor channel on wednsedays) sorry about the long read but i hope the info helps

In my little world, I also think a light would make it bigger, heavier and harder to conceal, and holster selection is a lot more limited. I would carry it 'naked' and stuff a flashlight in my pocket if I thought I would need it, but then I don't go out much at night anymore, either...

Welcome to the forum and good luck finding ammo! I was in Wally World the other day and saw a 100 round box of 40 cal for my SW40VE. I was looking around the store and went back later to find it gone ! If you see it you better grab it right then.

The 2 additional free mags offer ended 4/30/09... I got the 2 extra free mags with the promo on my M&P .40 FS, but since it is no longer available I can't get the offer on the M&P .40 Compact I purchased last week.

Hi Mike welcome to our merry band of S+W lovers.I would start looking for extra Mags @ www.midwayusa.com. They get factory mags and beat the S+W purchase price on thier website for resale.Always use factory mags only because of the horror stories with non factory magazines In regards to ammo I have used www.sportsmansguide.com almost exclusively.Just put 9mm ammo in the search engine and a few pages will come up.To see if something is in stock hit add to cart. The next response will give that information and a estimated return to stock date.I buy what is immeadiately available and place orders for items on backorder. It works nicely because the backorder ends way before I run out of ammo. Also if you use thier credit card they give a extra 7% ammo discount.Furthermore they send 10 dollar coupons with each order so it works out to just about free shipping with each order.Hope I didn't bore you with my long winded response and that it was helpful.....God Bless You and Yours........Mike

CDNN lists them occasionally. Botac Tactical had reportedly offered them recently at a decent price. As another poster stated, Midway Shooter Supply carrys them if they have them in stock. OMB Express Police Supply may also have some on hand. Check their website.
