I have a Model 410 and have never had a problem with it. However, I read that some owners of this "budget" series have replaced the plastic guide rod with a metal one from a 4006. Is there any "real" reason for doing this? Has anyone had a failure of the plastic guide rod? Maybe some people don't like a plasic part in a metal gun. Anyway, I'd appreciate responses.
A lot of people read this post but nobody replied. When I talk about "failure of the plastic guide rod", I don't mean to restrict it to just Models 410 and 411. Has anyone on this forum had a plastic recoil spring guide rod fail in any S&W Semiauto? Inquiring minds want to know.
I have a 410 and I can guarantee you that it has a plastic guide rod. However, your mentioning that Glocks have plasic guide rods is reassuring. I've never heard of a Glock guide rod failure.
