I was given three magazines with the exception of the followers appears to be identical to my Model 52 magazines. I have two in blued steel, and one in stainless. They have steel floor plates and plastic followers. They will fit into my 52-2, but will not allow loading of the .38 SPL WC ammo. 9mm ammo can be loaded.

Do I have magazines for the 952? Model 39? Are they the same?

I can't use them. If interested, please make a reasonable offer. They are in like new conditions. Photos available upon request.

Photos of the magazines would help.

I know what 39 mags look like, but I couldn't tell one apart from a 52's magazine.

Model 39 Mags have 7 witness holes, a slightly stepped floor plate with S&W marked on it. Most also have what appears to be six indentation spot welds on the left side where the seam is. Front to back depth is approx 1-1/4". I would presume that the .38 Special magazines would be slightly deeper (1.55" to 1.60") for the longer cartridge.

Hope that helps.

Bill: Thanks! The info you provided matches what I have.

I measure the externals of my M52 (38 spl) magazines and they are identical to the M39 mags. Differences are internal only (follower and the number of holes on the body)

bobt: I tried to send you photos, but your hotmail server rejected the e-mail.

You guys know how I can post picture to this forum?

Bob

Thanks for the info bdGreen!

My first attempt to post a link to Photobucket to show the magazines. Click on the link to view the rest of the album.
