Thinking of a M&P 9c Any Advice?

Any one out there own or have shot the M&P9c? Thinking of buying a 9c for ccw. I like the idea of the three grips which ya can change out to fit your hand. I think the 9c would be the best one for ccw but dont know? Any advice? Only reason I want a 9mm is because I have two other 9mm semiautos and lots of 9mm ammo.(and its cheep!)

I really like the 6900 series of S&Ws' and the M&Pc is very close in size and feel to them. I do have slightly smaller hands and did replace the flat mag basepad with the finger rest one. Someone with large hands may not like the grip as much.

If you can, ask the counter guy at the gun shop to lay out the similar sized G and S&W product. Snap each up into your hand and push the pistol towards an aiming point. Which ever gun is closest to the sights without being bobbled around in your hand is the one to steer towards. There are too many variables of hand size/finger length, finger diameter etc. for any one gun to truly fit all. The only sure thing is, a gun that gets into your hand with the sights as close as possible to alignment, is going to be the one fastest to get in to action.

IMO you can't go wrong on a MP 9c. I use
mine shooting some IDPA standard and BUG matches.
3 backstraps to fit your hand.

I have an M&P c and full size both.
These are excellent pistols in my experience so far. The compact is definitely smaller but not a huge amount lighter. Given a choice between the two I would have the compact first irregardless of concealment because i just plain like it better. Both are easy to control and seem to shoot as accurately as you could reasonably expect from service grade pistols.
I recently got a full size in .45 also and that has been a revelation. Much easier to shoot than I had imagined and shows signs of being exceptionally accurate. Its off getting a trigger job at the moment which I expect to make it even better.

Buy it! I love mine, makes an excellent choice for CCW. Close to a thousands rounds through it without a single hiccup.

I say get an M&Pc but get a .40 or .357 sig.
You will be glad you did. Buy a barrel and you have a two caliber in one CCW.

I've had my 9c for the better part of a year now. Exceptionally reliable, accurate, and easy to handle.

Having said that, I'd recommend that you handle it in comparison to several other similar pistols to find the one that best fits your hand. Glock, XD, Kahr, Beretta all come to mind as possibilities. It's the only way to know.

My neighbor just got a 9c and we fired it Saturday, one word, SWEET. Great trigger! Had 1 fail to feed, 24th round, last round in the second mag. Fired 210 total, WWB and Hydra Shok's and that one WWB was the only hiccup.

Shot a deputy's full size today (just authorized this year) and fell in love. I used to want an HK P2000 but I like the Smith trigger much much better...I like the size of compact but I hear the trigger isn't as nice...here's a thread on it form another forum.

Don't walk, but run to the dealer and get that M&P 9c. I own the M&P40 FS and M&P 9c and can tell you that Smith & Wesson really did their homework in their attempt to steal market share form an overcrowded poly market.

The entire M&P line just plain rocks. I live near 4 arms dealers in my area and they cannot keep any of the compact M&Ps in stock... I guess a lot of people think they rock too.

The trigger has gotten much smoother on my 9c Sip. Sometimes the duty size jobs get shot so much more than the compacts, the compacts don't get a chance to burnish up? In fact every control, slide stop, mag release, even the magazines themselves have worn in nicely after about a thousand now.
None of your pals got stuck with a 10# New York trigger spring, did they?

Don't know if it applies to them made in the past(?) but when going through the online options list at the dealer 11-08' you chose from mag safety Y/N, night sights Y/N (not many available BTW), and 10# "New York" trigger spring. I don't think the thumb safety variant was available yet as an option on the 9c 2 months ago? Are your friends LEO's who could have ordered their's through suppliers that may have automatically ordered "cop triggers" and/or mag drop safeties?

You will love this gun, I got my 9c last Feb with the $50 back and two free mags. I had problems with it shooting low left as others reported. Through several posts on the forum I read to adjust my finger position and since than dead on.
S&W has since than sent me 4 free finger extensions, great service. Great OC & conceal piece. I got the 12 round no lock.

Well, I dropped in to find reviews on the MP after a salemans told me that it was a much better pistol than the Ruger SR9.

I'm not that sharp on comparisons and I usually shop by size and price. I have a Kel-Tec P11 and thought it would be a good choice but I'm not real happy with it. One thing is that it's too small for my hand which has got me looking at the SR9.
Apparently I need to look closer at the MP .

When you do look at the M&P9c be sure they have the "pinky" finger groove magazine in it. If you have large hands, you'll want the extra length. Have them slide in the flat based one after you test fit and you'll see what I mean. Nice part is, it's got the interchangeable back straps as well. Please tell us what you think after kicking the tires!

My experience was similar to Sip's. I have an indoor local range which leases handguns for $5. Last week I leased a full size M&P9mm and loved the way it pointed and the trigger (I have a Sigma). I am an average shooter but shot that gun very well. This week, I leased the compact version. I could not discern a difference in the triggers but I kept trying to refit my little finger on the magazine curve. It still shot very well and the guys on the lanes on either side asked my what I was shooting. I suppose it would be easier to conceal but the confidence in the grip could be a problem if your hands are large. I could not acquire the target nearly as quickly with either of these guns when compared to the Sigma. In addition, the triggers on both were so light that I actually thought I might like a DA/SA gun for CCW. However, I have never carried a semi-auto.
