Here are a few pics of a Super 9. #108099, these were made in 1999. They came with 3- 5" barrels (.356TSW,9X21,and 9mm), adjustable sights, single action trigger, and a cocked and locked safety. Originally made for export, there are supposed to be around 175 in the States. I was told some sold here only had the 9mm barrel. I know there are a few others on this board.

Nice picture Grinder and a nice gun. I have one of the other 174. I like the operating system on this gun a lot. It is single action like the 52,745,845,952,... but without the dry firing option of those guns. Unlinke those guns, the safety "locks" the hammer and trigger. The gun, with it's from-the-factory multi-caliber support and unique single action is pretty cool. Too bad Smith never decided to develop the concept or market a gun like it in the USA.

I sold 4 through a short serial range that all came 9x19 only. I don't know if the distributor ordered them that way or it was just the way he aquired them. All the boxes were only marked 9x19.

Thanks for the info HG356. I am guessing they were close to the MSF69XX serials I see.
Malph, I agree on your points.
I am so used to the 845, 952, etc, I was surprised by the C/L single action.
Mine had an original price tag on the box of over $1000, so I'm sure that was a factor.

If anybody is interested,
I know where there are two (2) new 356TSW barrels for that model, and they want $50.00 each for them.
Regards,

I bought a NIB Super 9 a few years back to shot in IDPA / USPSA. I have shot it quite a bit but never in a match so far.
I has all three barrels.
The following is a response from Frank Branchesi of S&W to my query about the production numbers. He was short and to the point.
"Sir, about 250 were manufactured for export."
I had read or heard somewhere that only about 50 of them stayed in the states and of that number only a portion had all three barrels but I certainly can't verify that at this time.

Mine has all three barrels, MSF69xx, I got an extra slide from gun parts inc, and put a pc barrel and bushing in it, to prevent marking original up, all three original barrels shoot to same poi, the pc barreled slide shoots a little better though.

Am I correct in thinking that 5906 and/or 6906 magazines will work in the Super 9?

Also, does anyone know if the safety can be reversed to be "On-Safe" in the up position?

Thanks,
Sam

A 5906 mag will work, but a 6906 won't - it's too short....

I have always maintained that this is the profile that S&W should have had with its 3rd Gen LE guns - people like 5 inch barrels on their autos because of the 1911. The original 39 was built with the 4 inch barrel because it was built in response to a post world war II idea to adopt the 9mm in a slightly smaller pistol than the 5 inch barreled 1911.
