Hi all,
Was up in Maine with a friend that works in the Springfield plant for over 30 years now.
Not much to do when it's -36 below zero fahrenheit, so we visited some of his co-workers.
To my surprise I saw the 1911 line being assembled there and the slides were marked
SMITH & WESSON
HOULTON, MAINE
They are also going to be making the remaining third generations there also.

Are these still being assembled in Houlton? I'm a 1911 fan and think it would be great to own a .45 with a "Houlton, Maine" roll mark on it.

Thats cool, after reading this i had to look at my 1911. Sure enough Houlton, Me. That would be pretty awsome to see my pistol on an assembly line.

Just looked at mine-I have one of the older "made in Springfield MA" guns-which are a much better quality than the Maine guns. Kinda like a Belgium Browning vs one of the newer ones made in Japan.
And mine is even rarer yet, it does not have the billboard .
