Gentlemen: I need recommendations for a recoil spring for my 3913 9mm, using 127 gr. +P+ factory loads. Any ideas ? Wolff sells 14,15,16,17,18, and 20 lb. recoil springs for the 3913, and I don't know which one to get for this super hot factory defense round. I know the factory recoil spring is probably not enough, as the gun really slams hard when I shoot it, and I'd like to take some peak stress off the frame, if that's a good idea. Any recommendations appreciated.

If you're only going to use the 127+P+ I'd probably try the 17# or 18#. See which one allows reliable ejection, I like to see 4-6' from my empty brass. I believe the Winchester is rated at 1250fps, it's warm but I wouldn't call it super hot.

Thanks handgunner356. I'll buy those in Wolff and give them a try.

Always use standard S&W recoil springs. Use of heavier recoil springs can bring out other problems. The slide slams forward with more force. In addition, the forward velocity of the slide decreases the time interval the next round has to get into feeding position at the top of the magazine and if the mag spring is a little weak, it can lead to failures to chamber the next round.
Better to use standard S&W springs and, if it makes you feel better, replace them a little more often.
