I was looking at a friend of mines SW9f 9mm yesterday, and noticed a piece missing at the rear frame just below the slide. It appears that the piece missing is from the frame. I didn't remove the slide but was wondering if the sear housing block assembly pin was removed if the broken piece could be replaced or is it part of the frame. Here is a picture...

Any idea if this will effect the operation of the pistol? Would it still be safe to shoot? Are there other areas on the pistol I should look for damage? Will S&W repair this? Approximate value in this condition? Thanks!

Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see anything
wrong. Looks normal to me. Both of those gaps
are normal.

The piece that is missing / broken off is on the right side, under the slide cover.

Seems like you're telling us there is piece missing and not asking if a piece is missing. You're also getting an answer from someone that those gaps are normal and there's nothing wrong, but you don't want to hear it.

Hi Rooster,

I just pulled my SW9GVE out of the safe to confirm it: it's missing those pieces, too! Actually, amigo, nothing is missing - that's just the way that gun is designed.

cheers, erich

Sorry if I didn't ask the question in the right way. It just look to me that a piece was missing as the edge was not smooth or factory. Now I know two things... Phrase my questions correctly and that the SW9F is OK.

That's OK, so do I.

The gaps on the Glock are less uniform.
