I have a 5906 frame with a 6906 slide which makes for a great handling and shooting gun but don't know about the 39-2 and 59 compatibility.

I believe it will. I have both models and the slides appear to be identical to me.
I have swapped a 908 and 910 slides and they function fine.

Yes, it will fit. I've swappped slides on three M39-2 guns with an M59, and they are completely interchangeable.

Just a note I tried swapping 39-2 slide w 439. 639 they fit, but dont fire.

That is because second generation pistols had an automatic firing pin safety. First generation guns did not.
If you remove the F.P. safety from the 639 slide, it will work.
