Anyone have a model 52 with a barrel weight? See the weight in the paper work but I don't recall seeing too many of them on guns..

Just curious how many people (if any) actually use them.

I do not have one for 52-2 and as I recall original S&W weights are now pretty pricey, but nice aftermarkets are availaible. I've seen pics of 52's with the weight installed in one of the threads around here.

Regards,

here's pics of my 52-1 with the weight.
I've not fired this one without the weight.

I have a Model 52-2 that I use an aftermarket barrel weight on. There was not a dramatic difference but I do think it has been helpful and that my accuracy improved after I put it on. The man who sold me the gun also uses a weight on his and swears by it.

If you try one, make sure it is on tight - embarresing when they come off in the middle of a string - not uncommon when I shot bullseye.

Ranger325,
I believe they are Herrett's.
They have been on the pistol for a long time.

I have a set of original weights, but no gun. What is the going price for a set of S&W weights.

The target weight is a 2 piece affair, I saw one here on the forum sell at only $85.00 shipped, which I thought was cheap. The original weights may need to be fitted to your gun, forcing one on could result in frame damage.
The aftermarket weight on GB is an excellent copy of the S&W weight, his are better fitting.
I have 4 of the original weights, have never been able to sell one for $150.00 yet.
I feel they are not as common as the 41 counter weights, but do not seem to be that high in demand.

I have the weights on my 52-2 and have shot with and without. Prefer them on. I also have a set NIB of M41 weights but no M41.
