Are there available good scope mounting systems for the 745? I'm looking to buy a 745 from a local gun shop but my only hesitaion is my aging eyes needing the red dot. I'm handy and can modify something if necessary.

I would think that the easiest solution to your problem would be to use one of the small dot sights (J Point, Tasco Optima and Trijicon Reddot sights)that can be mounted to the slide. They make many different bases (they replace the rear sight and lock into the dovetail)I'm sure that if one is not made that would fit right in that one could be found that was close and modified to work. That way the basic gun would not have to be altered.

I am pretty sure that a mount was made that replaced the grips...I'd like to say Aimtech and I think I saw it on Midway's website.

Thanks. I'll research both options.

Razdog,
I checked Midway and didn't find the mount you mentioned but I did find it here http://www.gunaccessories.com/aimtech/semiauto.asp
I didn't know they made this mount! I will have to keep it in mind if I ever want to mount a dot on my 745.

I have a used mount by Cal Tech that replaces the left grip and has Weaver blocks on it that I have never used. I will take $65.00 shipped for it to the lower 48 if anyone is interested. It looks very well made.
