I have lost track of where I read it, but could somebody remind me how long these pistols were produced? I have a vague idea that not that many were made. Purchased with box, papers, spare backstraps, spare front sights, allen wrench and magazine tool. Looks like a Walther P99 that grew up big and stocky in Texas:
I have a SW990L in 40 caliber. Good gun, accurate well made Smith & Wesson / Walther clone. Not sure exactly how long they were made but it wasn't long. Pretty much discontinued making them with the advent of the MP series. I know there are guys here that know way more about them.
I also have a slighty used SW99 in 45ACP---I understand they were only made for about a year or so (2003-2004?)---I like mine quite a lot and shoot it regularly.
I bought my SW99 .45 ACP NIB in February, 2003, so they were probably first made in 2002. Mine was test fired at the factory before being boxed to ship on 12/13/2002. I don't see them for sale very often now, and didn't back then, either.
I bought one in .40 S&W in June, 1999, when they first became available in my area. Sold it November 2008. Just never common in my area.
