Any seven, eight or ten round mag for a Govt model or Commander will work in the Smith 1911 so you should be good to go.

'Yes'
Any mag intended for the size 1911 you have should work.
Of course if it's not a good quality mag there may be some problems and then again some 1911's just don't like some magazines.

I use Wilson COmbat ETM mags for my
S&W 1911. THe mags that came with it have
a follower that didn't operate reliably
when i tried the stock mag. THe follower
is just over half length, the forward part
isn't there or at least level with the rear
part of the follower. I had the last round
more than once, not feeding - I think the rear
part of the cartridge, along with the spring
being almost fully extended and less strength
allowed the rear of the cartridge to fall into
the forward 'hole' ? Anyway, if I were to use the stock mag I'd replace the follower with one from WIlson Combat or Chip McCormick.
