Hi Guys
Sorry about the double post.
I have a 52-2 that has been giving me some grief.I have put about 500 round through it no problem. Today I can't get the hammer to fall all the time. Its inconsistent. Tried all three mags and it the same deal. Sometime the gun will fire, other times no luck. Seems like when it gives me grief, the hammer its on the cusp of falling. I took it apart and gave it a complete cleaning and lub. Worked fine for 15 shots, and now its acting up. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would call Smith and Wesson, have them send you a call tag,and let them fix the problem under its lifetime warrantee.I am not a gunsmith, but it sounds like your 52 is in need of one and let it be on thier dime and not yours........God Bless.......Mike

Have you checked the tigger over travel screw to make sure it's properly adjusted?

Definitely check the trigger adjustment screws in the frame. One is for overtravel and the other adjusts how far forward it will go.

I had a similar problem years ago. Buried deep within the bowels of the frame is the Double action lockout screw. It had worked loose and worn the threads at the upper end of the hole. What my gunsmith wound up doing was to progressively shorten a new screw so that the shoulder of the screw head tightened on the frame at the same time the end of the screw bottomed out in the hole. That ensured the screw wouldn't work loose. But now the sear wouldn't release. Now he sanded off the screw head until we got the trigger pull I wanted. Try tigntening the screw in your pistol and see if it helps.

-2's are true single action, I don't believe they have a DA lock out screw.

Don't mess around with that quality of a gun, send it to Smith & Wesson for repair.
