I was at a local gun store today looking for an M&P40. They didn't have any (surprising) but did have several new two-tone SW99s for $475 with night sights. When I asked about them I was told that they have been put back into production due to Walther import costs getting out of control, and that P99s are now up to around $900 new. Anybody else heard anything about this?

CDNN was selling them as a closeout so it doesn't seem likely they would be current production, but maybe the market has changed. A call to S&W would provide a definite answer the question.

I cannot believe that S&W would re-introduce something so close to the M&P.

That was my thought too, but I've never seen a two-toned SW99 from the factory.

I have called S&W on this and they are no longer made. They still make the SW990 series, but the unique features (decocker etc) of the SW99 are not available.
