I heard the 22A has been discontinued but there are still quite a few new ones left around.
I've only put about 5 or 6 thousand rounds through mine but it runs pretty flawless. Took a couple of 100 rounds to get broke in.
I like mine just fine and expect it to hold up for a long time, I'm still using the original plastic buffer thingy but it is heavily worn, it did come with two, I am thinking I should call S&W and get a couple of more.
Good value, ho hum looks and accuracy.

I called Smith and they sent me a few for free, I wasn't sure how much longer you could get them so I bought some from Brownells.

The local (Arlington, Texas) Gander Mountain has several; both 5 1/2" and 7" barrels. Range in price from $239.00 up to $299.00. I just picked up a 7" on Friday for $239.00. They said it had been there since the store opened last Memorial day.
