I watching our new president on tv and also the secret service guys near him and I got to thinking does anyone here know what secret service agents carry for a pistol now and in what caliber?

According to several sites I googled, including wikipedia, they used a Sig P229 chambered in .357.

Standard issue pistol for agents is SIG 229 in .357 SIG caliber. Protective detail also uses and has available the FN P90 full auto weapon along with the FN 5.7 USG pistol. I suppose they have any other weapon for which they perceive a need.

You are 100% correct on the standard issue pistol...P229 in .357Sig. The FN P90 is utilized only by the Secret Service Uniformed Division Emergency Response Team (which is why you sometimes see it in video of the White House). The FN 5.7 pistol is not authorized for any USSS personnel. There are some additional long guns utilized as well.
