New to the 5906TSW, never had a pistol with a decocker. Question is with a round in the chamber and the hammer down will this gun fire if droped or bumped?

The TSW series and its 3rd gen family won't fire when dropped. With the safety on you will see the hammer sticking slighty further out than when the safety is off. This is because it has block between the hammer and the firing pin (pull back the hammer when the safety is on and you will see it). This will prevent accidental discharge under all but the most rediculous conditions.
That being said I have a 4006 (very similar design) that I never carry with the safety on. The design of these pistols is such that they won't go off unless you pull the trigger (again assuming all but the most rediculous conditions and what ifs). Best thing to do with this gun is carry it with one in the chamber and saftey off, but hammer decocked.

I could see that if the decocker lever would stay in the safty position, but it returns to the fire position, is this normal?

rusharrold - What you have there is a 5906TSW with the optional factory installed spring loaded decocker. The decocker safety lowers the hammer and then returns the gun to the ready position. In the standard 5906TSW, you would have a safety/decocker, which safely lowers the hammer AND acts as a trigger safety preventing the gun from firing when the trigger is pulled.

Many shooters, myself included, prefer the spring loaded decocker. It's just personal preference. However, as to your specific question:

"Question is with a round in the chamber and the hammer down will this gun fire if droped or bumped?"

the answer is no.

Hope this helps.

Pete

My pleasure, and welcome to the forum.

By the way, how did you come accross this gun? The optional decocker is not very common in a stock gun.
