Bought a 3913TSW no rail version today. Been skimming through all the 3913 threads and haven't found one that lists the differences between the 2 models.

I found a few tidbits on the web that mentioned the TSW has some Performance Center style features like:

oversized rails
"delayed" locking system

Are there any other physical or mechanical differences?

Just curious.

I really like the way the pistol feels and looks! It's light and feels well balanced. The trigger is super smooth and crisp! The DA seems just right, not too heavy (like my P225) and not too light\spongy like my Glocks. The lines are very sleek it's slim!

Looking forward to putting many rounds through it!

I believe the TSW magazine fits flush into a cutout in the grip and has one less round. So your pistol is 7+1 instead of 8+1.

I always wondered too if the TSWs had extra work done, had a different slide rail arrangement etc..
Or If they were just a bit different as the later ones had the rail for mounting lights/laser etc..
Hopefully we can find out..
There's several guys here who have em both

Here is a 7 round TSW mag, and a 7 round mag/metal floorplate, two standard 8 round mags.

If you search this forum for the topic "my new-to-me 3913TSW Pre-Rail", you will see a picture of a pre-rail 3913TSW (not mine BTW). Notice how the magazine fits into the grip.

If you put in "3913TSW pre-rail" you'll probably get some more results. The first of the TSW series made '97-99, the grip and the mags are the only real difference in the the TSW series guns. I never cared for the luggage rack on a compact gun myself. The only downside to them I see is if you have a large hand you would find the grip too small. You are pretty much stuck with the factory grip and mags for that model, but it is my favorite.

Yeah, that's why I'm really glad I found this one without the rail. I'm all about sleek lines and no unnecessary extras on a CCW.

I have big hands, but I am used to the short grip since I have a Glock 26 too. That was actually one of the selling points for me. Due to the short grip and slimness, it disappears IWB and is no more obtrusive than my cellphone.

It came with 2 factory mags, but I'd like to have at least 2 more for backups. Guess I'll have to scour the classifieds or gun shows for some.

rappa29:

You can get CS9 magazines here CS9/3913TSW Mags

The CS9 magazine is identical to the one for the 3913TSW pre-rail except for the magazine base. The "official" 3913TSW bases are available from S&W Customer Service. In fact, if you only want one, they will probably not even charge you for the base.

You should note that some guys like the extra grip space offered by the curved finger CS9 magazine bases and use them on their 3913TSW pre-rail.

Good luck,
