I have decided I want to take advantage of the rebate S&W is offering. As a lefty I am looking for a 1911 with an ambi safety. Buds has the 108282 listed for a good price, and they say it has ambi safeties, but I don't believe its accurate(seen many pictures that do not have one). So does the 108282 now have ambi safties, and if not which model # does? I would like to get one in the same price range as the 108282(I really cant afford much more).
Thanks

It's pretty clear the #108282 has a standard safety.
You can't go wrong with a #108284; I have enjoyed mine. An ambi safety is a nice option but with a little practice you can use your left hand index finger to actuate the standard safety.

My wife and I both have the 108282 1911 and we love them. They are very accurate. My wife is a lefty. We sent her pistol back to S&W and had the ambi safety installed on it. She loves it as she has her thumb on it ready to go. Call and get a quote for the ambi, you'll be happy with it.
P.S we use Blade-tech holsters and mag holders.

Please don't flame me for being anti-S&W (I have half a dozen or so), but the truth is that they cut a few corners on the SW1911 series.

You're better off getting a gunsmith to fit a set of Infinity SV or Ed Brown ambis than getting factory SW ambis. The factory versions are MIM junk and if you use them enough it's very likely that they're going to break. Fitting ambis is easy to do and any gunsmith should be able to handle it easily. That'll save you the Fedex or UPS overnight charge that's going to run around $40-50 since it has to be overnight shipped and you can't use the post office unless you have an FFL.

I'm no gunsmith and I can fit a set of SV's in 20min or so...and you can also have them contoured to the exact width and shape that feels right (takes a little longer to do that).

Honestly, I'd avoid the issue entirely and spend the same amount of money and get a better gun from a number of other companies, but that's an entirely different discussion
