Every site I've looked has been out of 12-round 6906 (69-series) factory magazines for a while - even Smith & Wesson.

I just got an e-mail from S&W saying they were shipping my back-ordered 6906 magazines (ordered 10/28/08), so I would think they should start showing up at the online dealers soon.

JMOfartO:

For my tastes I wouldn't even be messing around with the 12rd'ers.

The S&W "+2 mag extender" allows you to use the 15rd 5906 mags and "looks" factory doing it. The additional three rounds is a good thing, and I like the "feel" of the pistol with the larger mags over the factory ones of 12rds with fingertip ext. on it.

The "+2 extender" (ordered directly from SW)cost about $6 each, and the 5906 mags cost the same (from CDNN)as the 6906 mags. And I believe the supply of 5906 mags is much greater than the 6906 gun mags.

Just personal opinion.. I've got two 12rd mags, and two 15 rd mags and I never take the original 12rd mags out of the plastic case anymore.

Just a thought..

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I have a number of 5906 mags with the extenders; I wanted some standard sized, flush-fitting 12-round mags.

Brownells also sells the "extender", although at a little higher price than S&W.
Their part number is 940-000-654 (Mag Butt Plate/Grip W/2 adapt).

I just called S&W @ 1-800-331-0852 picked the "retail sales" option, and ordered 2 from the salesperson.

There WAS a "backorder" of several weeks, but I had the same "backorder" experience when I ordered a couple of mag fingertip extensions for my 3913LS.

Give 'em a call, and I think you'll certainly be able to at least place an order, even if you have to wait several weeks for delivery.

I REALLY like the 6906 better with the larger capacity mags @ +2 extender over the standard ones.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I am glad I stocked up on 6906 mags a few months ago. J&G sales had used ones for a good price though I am not sure if they still have anymore in stock.

How much are the 6906 mags going for now? I saw several in a box last Friday at a local mom/pop shop while buying #3913/908 mags, I did not bother to price them. I will call the shop Monday if anyone is interested, but would have to go get them and mail them out. That shop owner doesn't bother to do such things.

Thanks for the info, I knew how to find a email address in the profile, but thought there might actually be P.M. capability on this forum.

I doubt this local guy will beat KY Imports prices, I paid $25.00 each for the #3913/908 mags. I will still give him a call and ask. I send him alot of business.

What other model S&W's would these mags fit? I would want to try them in a gun before I purchased them. I ran all of the single stack mags I bought through my #908 before I paid for them. I have access to a S&W #469, if the mags are the same.

AFAIK the 469 would take any 15 shot mags Smith has, but not the 12 shot.

I can get used #6906 mags for $13.00 each, however, I have to buy the box of 180 and 8 #3913 mags, just don't have a spare $2,444.00 lying around (if I did the math right).
