Did Smith ever make a 9mm auto with double stack magazine and 5" or 6" barrel? I would like to get something that I can use my 5904 hicap mags in that has the longer barrel.

The PPC9 and Super 9 both use double stack magazines and are available with 5 inch barrels. Both are basically match 5906s, and are Single Action Only. Both are rather rare, too.

The Super 9 came with 9mm, 356TSW, and 9x21 barrels and was primarily sold overseas, but a few examples are available stateside. The PPC9 was available with either a 5 or 6 inch barrel, but was only sold to LEOs to use in Police Pistol Combat matches.

If you find one, expect to pay between $1000 and $2000.

The Performance Center was able to custom make double stack 9mm guns with the longer barrel. There may be a handful of custom 5" 59XXs floating around out there for sale. Not sure if you could still order one straight from S&W, though.

Thanks for the responses guys. I know about the PPC, but thought LEO only with little chance of finding one. The super 9 I had never heard about. I really enjoy shooting my 945, but thought it would be nice to get a double stack 9. Otherwise the 952 would fit the bill.

In PC SA you have the PPC guns as you know- they do come up for sale once in a while
There is also the 3566 Limited option- S&W is currently fitting 9mm barrels to them
Then the Super9

In PC TDA you have the 5903 or 5906 5" DPAs- very rare
Or you can make a custom with a Super9 upper on a 5900 frame

When you say they, who are you refering to? S&W, or private individuals. I have not seen alot of 356 TSW guns for sale out there that are reasonably priced to the extent that it makes more sense than to just order a 5906 DPA. Maybe they are not going to do another run on the 5906's, I cant sem to get an answer on that.

I couldn't get an answer either - I tried about three months ago.

The last run of 5" 5906's that I know about were the "Championship Excellence" guns made to special order in September 2007. Peter Boruchowski at S&W told me that only 50 were made. There was a run of DPA pistols about 8-10 months before that, if I remember correctly.
