Thumbs up 357sig 4006/1006 update

I have contacted Barsto & they will do a group buy on a 357sig bbl for either the 4006 or 1006, not both. I am happy w/ either so I need a head count. We need 50 barrels to make it work @ $150+$15 shipping each. If we get 50, I will place the order & Barsto will e-mail you each ordering instructions. These will be semi drop ins, may require a tiny bit of fitting, vs a match grade that needs gunsmith fitting. SO I am down for either, come on guys, only 42 or 32 more! I'll keep a tally here.
8-4006
18-1006
I checked w/ Barsto, it will have to be min. of 50. So the 1006 is in the lead right now. Keep em coming so we can get this done.

I beleive the 411 is the cheaper version of the 4006, so I would say yes, the bbl should be the same but maybe someone else can verify that?

I'll take one for a 1006... and if there would be a .40 option, I'd buy one of those, as well. Even if not a .40, I am a definite in this...

I might post this up on 10mmTalk, if it isn't there already.

Good idea, thanks. No, it will only be 357sig. I have to have 50 count of 1006 or 4006 so which ever one I can get the most of will be the order.
thanks

Default S&W1006, I'm good for two

Fred, I am good for two 357Sig barrels for the S&W1006.

I do wish you luck, we had discused this on the 10mmTalk site before. It would be a great project if you get the particapation need to make it work. This would be easier if someone fronted the money got the barrels done and sold them out right.

If I had the money I would do this, but I would need to hit the lottery!

BTW the 5.00" barrel of the 1006 would fit the 1026 & 1046.

PS. Its a damn shame Bar-Sto quit making barrels for these fine pistols! BTW. I have the Bar-Sto Match Grade 40S&W & 9x25Dillon conversions for my 1006! Sweet!

Thanks Shadow, I agree, if I had a spare $8K, I would just buy them & sell them online, but alas, I do not. You are down for two, that puts 1006 in the lead.

Well, that is a little depressing...

I definitely figured there would be at least 50 combined, but don't think you are going to get 50 of one or the other.

I'm still in, but I would like to change my order to two barrels. Figure that if I was one of the guys that got a hold of the .40 conversions they put out, I would have got two if I knew how hard it was to get them, now. I've already picked up a copy SGS compensator from a project on Beretta Forum, so this would be a nice addition to the safe.

At that price, I would take three of each. (4006 and 1006). But for sure 3 of what ever one comes up on top!

Is that 2 for the 1006 or 2 for the 4006 or 1 eaither? Yep, I know, 50 is a lot, but I am working to get a slightly smaller order, maybe 30, at a slightly higher price, maybe $175? Stay tuned.

I'd take one for 1006. I'd really like a barrel for the 1006 in 40 S&W.

I will take one of each: 4006 and 1026(which I assume is the same as 1006).

Default 357 Sig Barrel

I would like either a barrel for the 4006, or 1006, which ever you get the most orders for. Just let me know.

Default Interest in 357sig Barrel

I would be interested in a 357sig barrel for S & W Performance Center 4006, Shorty 40, if it would fit this model.
Count me in.

I'm not sure the PC 4006 has the same slide/bushing setup. Maybe someone else can confirm. Good job guys. Tell your friends that own a 4006 or 1006/1026. We are moving along well.
thanks

Thanks Aegis. 7tenz, I don;t believe I counted you. Unless I get a yes or number of bbls. I am not counting them.

Good. It's not a "no" either. I really want one, but some other expenses came up lately and I get apprehensive about discresionary spending. I've wished for one for many years, even as far back as when I got one for my Glock 22 in the 90's.

Well if this happens, it' not going to be tomorrow, more like Sept./Oct. if we got 50bbls by July. SO there is time. You live in So.Cal. I would even spot you the upfront money if it came down to one bbl. left.

Fred, if it came down to it, I'd buy a 3rd barrel for the S&W1046 to add to the numbers. So keep that in mind as we get closer.

Shadow,

It would also be an easy matter to run a 9x25 Dillon reamer into one of these 357 Sig barrels and have another 9x25. About 90% of the work would already be done.

Just a thought.

And if it gets close on the numbers, I'd also take another barrel for the 1006. I'd convert it to 9x25, since I've already got the reamer......

Fred

If that works, would you be willing to convert another?

It could be done. First, we have to get enough people to buy the barrels....

COunt me in for an extra one to convert to 9x25 as well, if we get close enough to buy one or two to make the deal.

Reloader Fred, I already have the Bar-Sto 9x25 Dillon Match Grade and am using it with the S&W1006, in fact I will be testing some 9x25 dillon rounds tommorrow that I handloaded.

Yes the 357 Sig barrels could be reamed to the proper chamber for the 9x25 Dillon. It is a neat round to shoot, Double Tap does have ammunition for both calibers with good specs.

I need the 357Sig barrels for the 1006/1026...
One day maybe a group buy could be done for the 40S&W or 357Sig barrels for the 4.25" pistols to fit the 1066,1076, 1086, If I hit the lottery I buy them myself and then sell them out right. Wish me LUCK!
Look here.

Shadow,

I forgot you had that barrel for the 1006. I was probably thinking it was for something else, since I made mine for a Witness from a spare .38 Super barrel.

I've got a Springfield XD and a Witness in 357 Sig, so a barrel in that caliber would be a good match for my 1006. I'd really like a 357 Sig barrel for one of my 4006's, though.

Just figured I ask, but have you tried any other companies? EFK FireDragon, Storm Lake, or KKM Precision. I know Storm Lake does M&P barrels.

Keep trying for 50, but if one of these other companies need less, or are willing to do different setups (there is interest in .40 and 9x25mm), might be a better route.

The reason I went to BarSTo w/ this is I know they used to make bbls. for the 4006 & 1006. The other companies, to my knowledge, never did. Worth a contact though. I did ask if they would do less bbls. for a slightly higher cost but was told 50. We'll see. I will contact the other makers & ask. We have 15 comitted for the 1006, maybe more if they would consider the 40 as well.
thanks

There is a possibility they may make them in both calibers, since the outside contour is the biggest machining chore. The boring, rifling and chambering are rather simple, after the outside contour is cut. Irv Stone is fairly reasonable, but they stay pretty busy.

Hope this helps.
