Alternative grips for Mod.41?
Who has alternative grips for the Mod.41? The originals on my 41 are not quite a perfect fit for my paw. Most of the aftermarket grips are just copies of the factory.

Have you looked at Hogue? I think the site is 'getgrip.com'? Or Google it.
They have a lot of cool stuff for most handguns.

Hmmm , gotta check that out. I've got about a dozen of their Exotic Hardwood Mono-grips on my S&W and Colt revolvers and a few sets of their 1911 double diamonds. Never saw , or more importantly felt a set of their Mod.41 grips. I've gotta feel a set on a pistol before I buy.

You will find the original model 41 grips that have the checkering all the way around the back strap to feel slightly smaller than the new style S&W grips that are smooth around the back strap. They are in fact slightly thicker. I prefer the early grips, there are also some palm swell grips that were made by someone long ago, I do see them on revolvers as well, not sure who made them, I have 2 sets if your interested in picking up a set.

Yeah , mine are original 1968 issue. The problem I have is with that flair or raised 'ring' around the bottom of the grip. It pushes my hand up too high. My hand is just too big. Otherwise , they feel great.

Google up "Vitarbo". Maker of made to order grips to your hand pattern. You send a zerox copy of your hand along with measurements in several locations. There are also other custom makers that also take your specific hand size into consideration. Most all these grips will have palm rests and thumb rests and are designed for either Bullseye or International competition. You might check with a International forum such as "Target Talk". Here's a picture of Vitarbo grips on a High Standard.
