I beleive your asking about the Beretta 92SB?
This is a 13rd compact of the 92FS
I've had a 92FS for many years & have never had any malfunction with many thousands of rounds of variouse factory loaded ammo..
It's my favorite range 9mm..
You can find out so much by just doing a Yahoo/Google search for 92SB..
Being the US Military has used a variant of this pistol for over 25 years you should have no trouble finding info on it.
There's also many Great Beretta Forums to ask questions
Good Luck
Gary/Hk

The 92SB came in several configurations. Full size (15rd mag) & compact (13rd mag) . Fore runner of the 92F / 92FS. Beautiful finish, round trigger guard, stone cold reliability, outstanding gun.

wefski.....which one do you have?

Here's what a search turned up..
Big Lou is correct that they offered them in the standard 15 round & compact 13 round..

"92SB (92S-1)
The extremely rare 92SB, Initially called the 92S-1, was specifically designed for the USAF (US Air Force) trials (which it won), the model name officially adopted was the 92SB. It included the changes of the 92S, added a firing pin block (thus the addition of the "B" to the name), and relocated the magazine release catch from the bottom of the grip to the lower bottom of the trigger guard.
  • 92SB Compact (1981 – 1991), shortened barrel and slide (13-round magazine capacity). It was replaced by the "92 Compact L".."

The 92SB was an improvement over the 92S in that it used the standard mag release (versus the bottom European design) and had an ambidextrous safety/deckocker. It's basically a 92F with a better finish and rounded trigger guard. These were all made in Italy in the mid 80's until the Army won the contract and the 92F went into production. Finding a nice 92SB today that has not been shot to death is actually not all that easy. They are probably the nicest looking of the older 92's with all the practical features of today's 92FS. Nice gun, especially the compact model (13 rounds) and compact "Type M" (8 rounds) of which only 1200 were imported.

I've shot half a dozen different 92's (they are on my favorites) and never had a problem with jamming until a buddy of mine had his Italian 92F in like new condition jam every two rounds. I changed the mags out, put in a new guide rod spring and still it would not fire more than two rounds without a stovepipe (and this was with 115g Remington ball ammo). Then I realize my buddy (who was new to shooting) never oiled the thing and it was bone dry! A few drops of Rem oil and it was like a new gun and fired without incident.

I love the 92SB and have owned a couple of them, one full size and one compact. It's the best looking 9mm Beretta ever made in my opinion, and the last "classic" handgun they made. Ever since then, everything they produced has looked like a military pistol with an ugly matte finish and plastic grips.

I foolishly traded off both of them years ago and haven't had a chance to pick one up since, particularly since the S&W 39-2 has become my favorite 9mm pistol. That, and the fact that for the last few years I've only carried .45's, means that I may not ever get another one, but I sure would if I had the chance.
