Default Performance Center Classic Series

I recently saw a Model 1006 with "Performance Center Classic Series" laser etched on the slide. Is this a true Performance Center pistol or a limited edition somewhere between the standard model and a Performance Center model? How much does it add to the value of a standard model? Thanks for your input.

The ones I've seen were basicly the Lew Horton Specials like the 5967 and 4567, two-tone blued upper with stainless lowers and night sights. There was a 3953 version, I never saw the 10mm version. They use the standard barrel/bushing so beside the lettering and the limited numbers they really weren't all that special.

The Performance Center in the early '90s was not the same as the one we know today. They basically just mixed and matched standard parts to produce non-catalogued combinations. In the late '90s the PC became performance oriented, producing models that were above standard specifications. I believe the Classic Series was from the early '90s.

The product codes of the "classics" puts them in the 1998 age group. Probably using up old parts. All of them are rare and would make a nice collection if you could assemble the set.
