Default S&w 469

Anyone have information on this model? I was offered one in a trade and I've been unable to find much information on it. Thanks in advance!

Default Here is mine

The #469 is a compact, double stack, 2nd generation gun based off the #39/59 1st generation guns. Alloy frame, blue steel slide, 12 round mag capacity, DA/SA, has a half cock notch, suposedly brought out due to the success of ASP and DEVEL customs based on the above S&W models. Prices are usually $350.00 and up.

Not sure what you are getting/trading/wanting, but I live in Duluth and would part with mine. I like the single stack S&W #908 and 3913 pistols a bit better as these fit most everybodies hand in my home.

I have the #469, one blue steel mag, three stainless steel mags, a Bianchi #19 RH belt holster.

I have two 469's which I will never sell or trade.

They complement with my 559, 3906, 3913 and 3914.

I modified one of my 469's by switching the slide assembly from a 6904.
Shoots tighter groups with the 3-dot sights.

586L-Frame

DLC’s S&W469 with Orig Delrin Pebble Grain Grips.

DLC’s S&W469 with 2nd gen Grips.

DLC’s 469’s with Uncle Mike’s Rubber Grips.

DLC’s S&W469 with Pacymayr’s & Accumold Holster.

I have a 669 which is the stainless version of the 469. I like it. I got a great deal on mine. I put the uncle mikes hard rubber grips on mine. It was my first pistol and is a great starter pistol. The only issue I have is its hard to find holsters. galco, don hume, desantis, and triple K all offer a couple each. but its a gun that went out of production in 1988

Welcome Firespec35!

I have a 469 (and a 6904). I thought about letting it go once and couldn't.

Hi everyone. New guy here. Do have a question. Just acquired a 469 in very good condition-to replace the one I peddled in 1994 & have been kicking myself for ever since. Still have Alessi holster & mag holster I bought for original firearm in 1983. Only problem w/this weapon is narrow rear sights. I have a difficult time acquiring proper sight picture-even with sight paint which I've applied. Anyone have any suggestions as to aftermarket sights or modifications? Thanks very much.

I'm pretty sure you can swap out the slide for a 3rd generation compact gun. I have a 669 and am planning on putting a 6906 slide on it, so I can get the white dot front sight. I also believe that Novak's does work on second gen. S&W autos. The Novak option is more expensive, but you can choose the exact sights you want. I don't have the funds for the Novak's, so I'm going the 6906 route.

I carried one as a detective from 1985 to 1988 (when the Dept. went to Glock). I sold this weapon a year later and I am very sorry I did. There was a recall on the 469 but my old fart memory cannot remember. I took six 469s to Springfield for the recall. I am sure the Smith historian can give you info on this recall. I never had a problem with my 469 and I never should have sold it. If I ever locate a pristine 469 I will buy it.

The 469 is the blued version of my 669 Stainless. I carried it from 86-2000 as a detective, then uniform. 12 round double stack mag, decocker, etc. Probably the most reliable pistol I ever carried, never failed to fire. Mine is now a safe queen in retirement. I worked in Fla so the Stainless version handled the humidity a little better, but otherwise both great pistols.

Anyone know where I can get the piece to turn my 469 into the single sided safety instead of the ambidextrous safety. I would like the smooth insert on the right side. Thanks.

If I ever decide to offer up this almost new in box 469, I'll let you know. It was unfired up until earlier this year. I've put a few mags through this beauty, what an awesome S&W !!! Shoots like a dream so I know why you'd like to get your hands on another one, Shoo

I obtained mine used, and it had the finish stripped off the frame, making it a 2 tone. The finger knob on the trigger guard was removed and the front checkered. Most of all, I notice all have a bobbed hammer where mine has a hammer. I agree, it is a really great little gun, and very accurate.

I liked mine when I had it. One thing I couldn't get over was the integral front sight. Before I traded it off I filed the front sight into a dovetail and put on a Sig night sight. It worked out much better, but the rear sight notch needed to be opened up just a little bit.

Digging up an old post and Just putting my 2cents in here on this fine gun. I have had it since my grandfather pasted away. I have put maybe 3000 rounds in it since 92 and much of that time it was in storage. I love it and wouldn't part with it at all. I would like to do something about the sights, better glow in the dark or some sort of trim on the fixed sights it has.. Anyone have ideas on what would be best?

Holster for a Glock 26/27 will fit the S&W M469.

What size accumold is that? I have a 6944 DAO and need a holster like that model.

If holsters for a 469 series handgun are readily available here in Montana they should be all over the place elsewhere............

Hello all,

I just put a down payment on one of these guns at one of the local shops with the intention of using it for my first concealed carry gun. I started browsing around online to try and get an idea of what the price would be to buy an additional mag for it, better safe then sorry and fortune favors the prepared and all that, when I stumbled on this article.

Hidden Defense: Smith & Wesson 469: A Proven CCW

In it the author suggests there are 30rd Mags that this particular gun would accept, and I was wondering which mags those might be?

I sincerly appreciate any help in confirming/disproving this claim you gentlemen can provide.

A 30 rd mag for any 9mm handgun is not able to be "concealed". Won't be reliable, and is a waste of money except as a "toy". A 469 is a nice handgun, and is small enough to be concealable, but you need to be aware it is a double stack and the grip is thick, and you will need to determine what manner of carry will work for you for CCW.

Well, my thinking was to use it as a reload. Use the standard Mag that came with the gun as the one loaded while carrying, and keep the 30rd inside the waste band on a pouch so that if my luck goes so far south I actually need to not only use the gun but to reload, that would be what I'd change too.

Question, when you say won't be reliable, do you mean won't be reliable and will cause the gun to malfunction/fail, or just won't be reliable in that you won't be able to hide a gun with a 30rd mag in it? It's a serious question, not intended to be sarcastic or anything like that. I'm asking cause I've never heard that particular complaint about them before now.

The 469 will accept any 59/-59/5900 series magazine in various capacities, however, most of the 30 round magazines are made by companies that are generally not too well regarded (ProMag, USA, etc.). See this thread

5906 20 & 30 round magazines

A 30 rd mag would be nearly 3X the length of the original mag, about 12" - 13" in length. That's not too easy to conceal. All mags in this extra length have historically had spring/feeding problems. If you want to carry extra ammo, obtain a double mag pouch and two additional regular mags.

Wish to hell I hadn't traded away the well-used 469 I had years ago. Very nice gun, dependable and accurate.

The idea of carrying a 30 rd spare magazine IWB is a little bit silly, in my opinion.

I only have 37 rounds of 40 S&W ammo on my belt when I'm on duty in uniform. Off-duty if I'm carrying my 6906 I carry the 12 round magazine in the pistol with one in the pipe for 13 rounds plus a 17 round 5906 magazine as a reload.

If I am going somewhere that I am going to need more than 30 rounds I'll grab my level 4 body armor and my rifle plus 4 AR mags and then go there.

I honestly can't fathom any reason you would need or want to carry a 30 round magazine on your person.

I too, recently joined the ranks of 469 owners. I picked this gem up from a local gun shop , here on Long Island NY, for just $200.00. It needs some minor touching up. I will tell you, it is a very good shooter. Nice action, very accurate. I find it very comfortable in my large hands, ( i like double stacks). Recoil is very mild for a 9mm using target rounds. I'm Happy.

You should be Happy! At $200 anywhere that is a very good deal. In NY that may be the deal of the year! Congratulations.

That looks like mine. I carry mine most of the time now. I bought it used from a pawn shop a few years ago and it looked like it had been shot very few times. I'm lucky to have found this great gun for 350!
